Just tried the zgcc.img from the r121 feed and got this upon mounting:
CODE
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/loop0, missing codepage, or too many mounted file systems

Pass -t cramfs to mount doesn't help.
The older file in the Beta4 feed is working.

I went back to the stable beta3. For me this is the most serious problem: There is no working NAND-backup function with this version (with all uboot versions?? I don't know). You can Nand backup but the NAND restore fails.  mad.gif So any major problem you run into during tuning the system leads to startup from the beginning or at least to very time consuming step by step backups and new installs.
I really hope the following versions will allow NAND backups again.

I am using a c860 and would like to go back to Beta3. How? I don't know how to reflash now I have uboot going. If I hold down the OK button on reboot I get the emergency system but it doesn't offer to install anything, I just get the sh prompt. My Beta 3 install files are on an SD card.

Oh, and doing a NAND restore doesn't seem to work, as I hold down M +D for ages and nothing happens, and if I put in the battery (switch locked or unlocked) or attach the power lead the Z fires up as usual, whether I continue to hold down the keys or not.

Thanks!

If I found someone with a NAND backup of beta3 on a C750, would I be able to apply it to my Zaurus? Is it just as easy to go the japanese route and then beta3? I'm sorry, I've just had enough of 121.

I just installed r121 on my 860. A bit of a pain getting here, but it's got some nice stuff. I managed to get my sound working after xmms gave me the 'Cannot load esound output plugin' error by first installing the esound package from the main feed, and then running alsamixer & making sure both the 'Output Mixer Hifi Playback Swit' and the 'Output Mixer Line Bypass' are NOT muted.

As well, I found that unless I turned the 'Speaker Function' to off, it would play on the speaker as well as the headphones. I guess I'll have to turn that back on if I actually want to use the speaker (I assume for alarms). I'll have to do some more testing.

Does anyone know where alsamixer savaes it's settings? I'd definitely like to back that file up!!

Still trying to get back from 121 to Beta 3 (well, anything really). Nand restore just doesn't work - I don't even get the diagnostic menu.

Does this really mean I'm stuck with this ROM? mad.gif

No you are not stuck... you will just have to work at getting into the DM...

I have no trouble at all getting into the Diag Menu on my c1000 I notice most cxxx users complain about getting into it but it must be a device specific issue... I would type up the steps to getting into it... but it has been post so many times I'm not going to waste my time...

Try Fn+D+M instead of just D+M. Restore to an older/original ROM image, then install Beta. Alternately, I seem to recall someone posted instructions somewhere in the forum here about installing earler Betas via uboot.

I do have a SD card I can use. I'll give it a try over the weekend and see how it goes.

Thanks,

How did this work out? Did you try, and were you successful? As I'd said, when I tried Beta4 I had problems with uboot barfing on CF, although when I installed uboot for the R121 install, it's happy with CF.

FWIW I've gone back to beta2 on my 860. The biggest thing 'scaring' me off r121 is the non-functioning NAND restore. I have two saved images, a fresh install & a slightly tweaked one, neither of which I was able to restore to. I'll lurk & see if any suggestions arise & will be more than willing to test them out. thks

I just caught this - you successfully performed a NAND-Restore of a backed-up r121 install? What did you do?
