Simplifying installation of multiple packages is always a Good Thing, IMO.

While I think it's been a great (and sometimes painful..) learning experience to install things manually, as sriley says it's probably good to have another choice for those that can't install by themselves...

Meanie, I say 'build it and they will come.' OK, I may not have been the first to say it. The easier it is for newbies to take advantage of the hardware features and available software options for the Zaurus the more people it will attract and that would be great.

a package would really help us newbies. specially those of us afraid of bricking the new expensive toys and being too dumb to fix them. I'm still a bit of a chicken to do the more extensive software mods..

well ok, seems like lots of people want it, so I am going to do it once I get back from Brisbane (going tomorrow)
However, I need some volunteers to be guinea pigs/testers Also, once the package has been tested successfully, I will need a place to host it as well... |

I am back home and have build the jumbo package. It's 15 MB in size.
osx4zaurus has offered to host the file so I will be sending him the package first for him to put up on his site. Then a few of you will receive the secret link to the beta package for testing. Once it is tested and xqt can be installed successfully with this package (and all the install bugs have been eliminated) the link will be made known to everyone. |

Some of you will have private messages with a link to the jumbo package for beta testing if you are still interested in testing. hopefully it will be a very smooth and pleasant experience (albeit very slow and long one since there are lots of files being installed)
