yes, i know... there are a million threads on this topic, but i want to be sure before i buy.

the Linksys is much, much cheaper, but i am not sure on compatibility.

will i be able to get full functionality from the Linksys card (scanning... kismet...), without any comprimises?

also, has anyone used both, and have an opinion on the size difference, and the durability of the cases? (oh, battery, too)

Thanks,

had a linksys in my 5600. it worked great. I used kismet and wellenreiter.

My amicom in my 3100 works great too, using hostap under pdaxrom. I'd bet it works great on all roms, I just haven't tried them all on the 31k.

The Ambicom is definite;y smaller and less obtrusive.... and supposedly lower power use, though frankly I'm not fainting with delight over my battery life under wifi.

I've used both, and they're functionally identical. No noticeable differences in range or power consumption. Judging from HostAP, they've got the identical chips inside. The Ambicom comes with slightly newer firmware, but either one can be flashed up to the latest if you care about that sort of thing. So yeah, the only real differences are that the Ambicom is a bit slimmer and nicer to look at, and that the WCF12 is easier to find for a good price.
