Greg, I reinstalled my Z yesterday with hentges rom 64-0 kernel and strangely, on reboot, the lirc and lirc-modules ipkgs are not installed by default on it.
Can you confirm the settings for your system? Thanks! Appreciate your time and help. If these modules require a different kernel, I am most willingly to try it out. Please let me know. Thanks. |

Just go to your taskbar and see if you can enable irda? You can check: /media/card/lib/modules/2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix/lirc/lirc_dev.o 'and' lirc_sir.o and see if they are symlinked to /lib/modules/2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix/lirc/lirc_dev.o 'and' lirc_sir.o Greg |

QUOTE(Snappy @ Aug 15 2005, 02:31 PM) ... what next? Now you install the irk-belkin ipk as per the instructions here that acpkendo used: http://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=12428&hl=irk I copied the irk-belkin ipk to my CF-card and disabled the feeds, then did ipkg update and installed it from the command line. Remember to enable your feeds and do ipkg update after the installation. Greg |

Hi Greg, thanks for your time.
Now it says Configuring irk-belkin Configuring lirc-modules mknod: /dev/lirc: File exists postinst script returned status 1 ERROR: lirc-modules.postinst returned 1 what does status 1 mean anyway? |

btw, Greg, I just reflashed my Z with Hentges rom 64-0 and sure enough, neither lirc nor lirc-modules are installed. Can you confirm if you really have both modules installed in the default installation? Thanks.

Greg ok, so if I am hearing you right, it means that despite the fact that I did a clean reinstall, and that lirc and lirc-modules are not installed by default in my case (from a clean reinstall), I should go ahead with the ipkg update and install instructions in this thread? If so, I have a clean install right now and would be happy to try it out. Thanks. |

G Greg, thanks for your speedy reply. from the default install, /etc/init.d directory does not contain lirc anywhere. If my assumption is not true, let me know and I'll go ahead with a reinstall with the instructions herein again. Thanks. |

Installing irk-belkin (0.11-r1) to sd... Configuring irk-belkin Configuring lirc-modules mknod: /dev/lirc: File exists postinst script returned status 1 ERROR: lirc-modules returned status 1 Collected errors: Warning: Cannot satisfy the following dependencies for irk-belkin: lirc This is from a fresh install of hentges rom. Unless I read wrongly, it appears that lirc is not installed in my case and lirc-modules is not installed by default properly as well. Ideas? |

If not there install the irk-belkin_0.11-r1_arm.ipk 'as per the instructions in this thread'. Reboot and you should have the Belkin option available like I have. (but no keyboard to check it) Please fix this... your giving me a headache! Greg |

Let's check for: /etc/init.d/lircd symlinked to /media/card/etc/>? If it's not there install the lirc_0.7.0-r5_collie.ipk
Checked. Its not there ... installation gives: update-rc.d: /etc/init.d/lirc file does not exist
Check for: /lib/modules/2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix/lirc/lirc_dev.o 'and' lirc_sir.o symlinked to /media/card/lib/>?
Check for: /opt/QtPalmtop/plugins/inputmethods/libirk.so libirk.so.1 libirk.so.1.0 libirk.so.1.0.0 symlinked to /media/card/opt/QtPalmtop/plugins/>? /etc/lircd.conf symlinked to /media/card/etc/>? /etc/IRK.conf symlinked to /media/card/opt/QtPalmtop/etc/skel/IRK.conf ? (but no keyboard to check it) Please fix this... your giving me a headache! Greg
Checked. Not there whatsoever. Only the default three: libqhandwriting.so libqmultikey.so libqpickboard.so I cannot install irk-belkin because it will have the lirc errors as stated earlier. As you said earlier that lirc and lirc-modules are installed by default in hentges rom, Can you point me to the install rom that you use so that I can just have it by default? The default as I see it from almost 7 times of reflashing, points to that they are not installed by default and attempts to install them fails as well. I hope to have this fixed too! Meanwhile, appreciate your time and suggestions. Let me know if there is anything else I should try. Thanks! |
