Does anyone know of a working port of DGEN, the Sega Genesis emulator. LD compilied a version but it crashes with a SDL exception error...

I'm using the Qtopia ROM at the moment, but if the following was on the pdaXROM, then I might use it...

- XFig
- Some spreadsheet program
- VIM (GUI version), if it doesn't already exist

The Vim in the cacko-feed contains the GUI-version for GTK+-2.0.

I have compiled XFig. Package available at http://www.pmf.neominds.net/feed/xfig_3.2....a3_armv5tel.ipk.

Excellent... now after I hunt around these forums for all the other things I want (BT, email, decent PIM, etc), it'll look like I'll have a nice little working environment!

Now I'm no linux expert (I'm learning as I go along), but it seems that one of the biggest advantages that the Qtopia ROM has over the XROM is that a lot of the apps make use of the keyboard for navigation. Now, is there anyway to map navigation keys so the XROM can be more keyboard friendly?

I would much rather see a port of Gens. It's a better emulator overall.

I don't think the linux port is quite ready, but once it is it shouldn't be too hard to port. I think the linux port is using the allegro libs which have already been ported.

Some more port requests:

1) Hardware-level PC emulator smile.gif (for example, Dosbox refused to set 320x200x64K and 640x400x64K modes, though they're VESA compatible and Zaurus hardware is more than capable to handle them);

2) GSM dialer for GPRS cards like Windows Mobile Phone Tools;

3) Something like OpenOffice, including presentation program with MS Powerpoint support and drivers for the most popular CF-VGA cards;

4) CF GPS programs - I know they do exist for the "big" Linux;

5) Last but not least - QPE libs and other things required so we could run Qtopia games on pdaX ROM. smile.gif

If anyone's bored over the weekend, how's about:

Frozen bubble
KFoulEggs or similar
Sokoban (I assume there must already be a version of this about - anyone have a link?)
Solitaire of some or other description (as above, I can't believe that there's nothing already in existance)

If not I'll try next week.

In my opinion, what should be simply done is a fusion with Debian ARM distribution. It's not the first time I say this and Sash will perhaps recognize me (IRC or Zaurus Forum...).

What I mean with this fusion:
- finish ipkg so it becomes completely stable and could manage correctly .deb files.
- add some libraries to be more Debian compatible and add package dependency so ipkg could completely replace Debian one by .ipk package.
- Tell to all user winning for a package: "it's in Debian repository. If you want something smaller, just build it and upload the source and the binary in our incoming directory".
- Take http://www.emdebian.org control so Debian could begin to have a real voice in embedded market other than 'extract files and do it by hands'. Of course, only if they want to.

And the most important:
- refuse to open CVS write access to the base system for anyone other than those that have prouved their value during more than 6 months (6 months of contribution and submitted patches).
- do things like they think they should do it (like any PC distro today) and use/include software builded by other people and coming from other website. They need only to work on the base system and not on the wall thing (that shouldn't prevent them from building good tools or other thing, sure).
- listen to users but with a very strong reflexion because most of them are simple Trolls here (saying that it's a shame because there's no synchronisation with Outlook although the system just emerge and need to be fixed for exemple).
- list task that could need works and perhaps ask for maintainers like on Debian. I'm talking about the wall purged application set and not the base system.

That's it! Someone desagree? I'm already have an idea about whom.

Minesweeper (not requested, but it's small): http://www.pmf.neominds.net/feed/xdemineur....1_armv5tel.ipk

KFoulEggs: Well, there's XPuyopuyo, but it uses GTK-1.2, and I don't actually want GTK-1.2 libraries on my Zaurus. Perhaps I will port it to GTK-2.2 as an exercise...

Is there a way to get the following ported:
1. Database management application (compact, but powerful). Like a forgotten dBase III-IV.
2. Compact word processor and spreadsheet. Siag office sucks (*.doc and *.xls reading/writing is a must). Maybe Hancom word/sheet?
3. Project management software.

If a kind soul can port any nes emulator (I think nester runs the best), it will keep me from having to switch to the qt rom every time I go out of town smile.gif

The Hancom apps (for X11) can be downloaded from the yopy site for free, you will need to create a login though.

I've not tried them yet, but you just reminded me about them (I grabbed them months ago).

2 lardman:
No sign of a Hancom Office on www.yopy.com. Did I take you wrong? X86 source tarballs for Hancom and KOffice are too long to edit (tens of MB). I wonder if you could check your package.

2 all:
Does anybody rememeber where to get C libraries to process dBase IV/FoxBase data files?
Is there a useful Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48/Plus emulator for X11 (non-Java)?

Apparently, those applications (Hancom Office for QT/X11) have been removed from the Yopy web site. Certainly because of to much download (and because they are included in the Yopy CD).

http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/ for applications.
www.yahoo.com, www.google.com, www.altavista.com and perhaps www.sourceforge.net for a library to access dbase files (sorry, can't help).
