I have a Z 5600 and up until it crashed i was running oz. But the basic problem is this, i have it plugged in and i hold down the 2 larger buttons to boot to the maintainence menu (srry dont have z with me so cant name buttons). Now i'm at the menu, i tell it to format and say yes on the next screen then the screen shuts off. I have let it go for about an hour before making sure that i wasnt just being impatient. So now i have to pop the battery cover, hit reset, put it back on and flip the switch then use my 2 buttons again to get it back to the menu. I have tried telling it to Update and it has the same reaction. The last thing I did before it crashed was try to but the original Sharp os on it, i'm not sure what happened while it installed but it doesnt do anything now. So here i sit with a $200 paperweight. If anyone has any ideas on what do try or should i just sell it for part. Thanx

Ok, i guess i have to take this topic in a different direction. If no one knows what is wrong, does anyone know if i can even contact sharp about this. I really dont see that happening but if anyone knows who/what i should call to get this thing fixed, that would be awesome. Dont really wanna get a new one and just pitch this so any help totally makes my day, thanx

I seem to remember pictures around showing what happens with reverse polarity - you may be lucky and it may have taken out fuses...

...but last week, I plugged in the power to my embedded advantech server the wrong way around, putting 12v where 5v should be, and the magic smoke escaped forever sad.gif

I raelly hope you have more luck than me. Have a search, as I think this has been covered before.
