emacs binaries only:
* emacs-base_21.4a_armv5tel.ipk : emacs lisp files: * emacs-lisp_21.4a_armv5tel.ipk emacs lisp sources (the previous contains the byte compiled lisp files): * emacs-lisp-source_21.4a_armv5tel.ipk emacs info manuals and man pages: * emacs-documentation_21.4a_armv5tel.ipk emacs leim (multilanguage inputs): * emacs-leim_21.4a_armv5tel.ipk emacs various (refcard, tex and other pretty useless things) * emacs-extra_21.4a_armv5tel.ipk Emacs by default wants other fonts than the ones in pdaxrom installing them is left as an exercise. But you can still start emacs like : emacs -fn 8x13 Mirrors are welcome Let me know if something is wrong mail.pdaxrom.org/contrib/pgas/ |

FYI - I am had problems installing emacs from pgas's feed in the beta1 pdaXrom for 6000.
I can't tell if the issue is with the feed, or beta1. Although ipkg seems to like the feed for the "ipkg update" command, it fails for an install, as noted below. I was able to download and install the files, but I figured I'd let you know about potential problems with the feed. It seems there is a space being added in the filename, between the "a" and the "_" on the line right after the install command: ipkg -d sd install emacs-base filename - emacs-base_21.4a _armv5tel.ipk Downloading http://mail.pdaxrom.org/contrib/pgas//emacs-base_21.4a ... --22:16:26-- http://mail.pdaxrom.org/contrib/pgas//emacs-base_21.4a => `/mnt/card/home/tmp/ipkg/emacs-base_21.4a' Resolving mail.pdaxrom.org... 212.10.30.205 Connecting to mail.pdaxrom.org|212.10.30.205|:80... connected. The page is (temporary) not available. You can compile emacs by yourself. But do this on an external memory or drive. It takes some time. (several hours) And probably needs swapspace allocated before. There is a thread about compiling emacs on Z, but it could be outdated. Good luck Enno |

[...] Hi, As I stated, I was able to download the .ipk files, and install them "manually". They will not install with the "ipkg install emacs-base" command however, so I was pointing out that there is either a problem with that feed (most likely) or a wierd issue with the beta1. I figured I'd mention it, so users can still get and install emacs, and also so the appropriate folks will know there is an issue that needs to be corrected. Thanks though! John |

Hi,
Does anyone have GNU Emacs IPKs for the 5500? I've searched and searched, as I thought these were available, but maybe I used to use micro-emacs back when I used my 5500 on a daily basis. EDIT: By the way, I tried the emacs21-withx_21.3-1_arm.ipk in the X/Qt feed, symlinked ncurses.so to ncurses.so.4, but it fails with "/mnt/card/opt/QtPalmtop/bin/emacs: relocation error: /mnt/card/opt/QtPalmtop/bin/emacs: undefined symbol: __modsi3" (And, I'm using beta1 on the 5500) John |
