QUOTE(gsgmx @ Nov 11 2005, 11:03 PM)
Hello Anton,

i had found an older version of the iptables-extra  (Jan 2005) from the cacko feed which i had dled  in September.  looking into it shows
a) has been made for 2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix kernel
cool.gif contains a tree /lib/modules/..../ipv4/netfilter/ with the ip_conntrack.o and ip_state.o
c) contains a tree /usr/lib/iptables/

comparing this with the current ipk shows the whole tree cool.gif is not there, only /usr/lib/iptables/

perhaps something in packaging went wrong?

Thanks
George

Hi Anton,

no, there is not any iptables modules ipk which contains the missing conntrack* and state kernel modules.
See my previous msg about the iptables-modules (lite) ipk on the cacko feed. I have analyzed them all.
My msg about the iptables-extra diff between old and current version was a hint that in the past the missing kernel modules could be found in the extra ipk but nowdays aren't there anymore:

the contents:

as posted before,
/lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/net/ipv4/netfilter/
contains 1:1 links to every file in /lib/modules.rom/...

The cackofeed
iptables-modules-2.4.20_1.23-lite-1_arm.1.ipk
contains exactly the same modules as the modules.rom above, no wonder, it is probably the missing modules of the lite kernel to have the same funtionality an the full kernel.

here again for the 2.4.18 kernel we find the conntrack* state and nat kernel modules which are not available for the 2.4.20 kernel.

I have marked in the first listing by !!! those modules which are missing now for 2.4.20, as far as i could spot them.
I don't know where to further look for them.
Marked with *** are modules which were there only for 2.2 kernel firewall compatibility, i think they are really not needed anymore

Sorry for thze long post. I think we need all details now otherwise we enter a loop here.

TIA

George

Yes, you did.

Thanks, Maslovsky. I figured out that I had accidentally overwrote freqchange.conf in the Settings directory. Once I restored it with the original 1.23 version of the file, all was fine.

1.23 is a great rom. Thanks for the hard work!

Hi,

I installed the 1.23-lite version, but have a small problem with the docked applications.

Firstly, I did a backup of my 1.22-lite via the Qtopia GUI. Then I removed Hotfix-A and did another backup. Then installed 1.23-lite and finally restored from the 2nd backup (without the old Hotfix).

However, my problem is similar to the problem reported by a few people back in 1.21 (IIRC), in that the docked applications stack on top of each other. Also, occasionally when I enable / disable one Qtopia crashes.

Just in case it's a conf file problem, I'm about to re-flash 1.23-lite and then just extract the PIM data & WiFi settings from my backup file (as that's all I really need) and re-install the applications.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
Gav.

Well to answer my own question ... the docked applications are ok with a fresh install! I'm just getting the gadget back to it's former fully loaded glory smile.gif

Hi Anton,

i continued looking for the needed kernel modules and so i checked at the tetsu webpage where you got your kernel patches from.

i looked into the v18a kernel modules ipk.

There are neither any conntrack*, nat, state netfilter kernel modules, so probably the kernel was compiled with similar config.

I assume now the needed modules are nowhere available.
Next step is then self compile.

On your webpage i dind't find a doc how to compile kernel modules myself.
Could you give me a hint?

TIA
George

gsgmx, you are right - the modules you mentioned were missing from the 2.4.20 kernel package! I've built them and updated the package in the feed. Please, download it again and reinstall.

Hi Anton,

yes fine, i found the missing modules in

iptables-modules-2.4.20_1.23-lite-2_arm.ipk

which i installed now. Made before, to be safe, a gtar backup of the ..../netfilter folder as its contents were to be overwritten by the install and would not be restored by a later deinstall.

Anyhow the missing modules are now there! It works! Thanks alot!

Sorry for the late posting, I'd hoped to have this ready when Cacko 1.23 went live, but I've been down with the flu.

Anyway here are the japanese support ipks to add back Japanese input methods to the C1000 and C3100. For some reason the CRIM from the C3100 doesn't work on the C1K - it causes an endless restart of qtopia - so I've made 2 ipks.
*

Not what I meant smile.gif

With version 1.22 there was a different installation file which specifically didn't hardware remap the kanji key etc to ctrl and alt.

I use QPOBox and need to use the Kanji key for starting it. But no matter what I do I can't remap the remapped Alt in 1.23 back to F21.

Solution? Should I install the real KeyHelper? Or is there gonna be a 1.23ja version too?
*

Actualy I forgot about those keymappings smile.gif I think I'll have to buiod a separate Japanese kernel without remapped keys.
*

That seperate Japanese kernel for C760 would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to install 1.23 on my Sister-in-law's C760 (she's visiting from Tokyo). I can't quite get the japanese software (dictionary, etc.) working on 1.23 without the J kernel. Let me know if you want me to test or anything.

Hi Anton,

thanks again. It works, but now looks like i installed not the right way by using this ipk.
I could not find anything else with the missing modules. And i have no idea what else could / should be installed.

New cacko 1.23 package thru reflash like first 1.23 install?
new kernel (how?, where to dl from?)?
another ipk? The one i used was the only one with a current modified date.

Sorry - too stupid but i don't know the right / optimal way.

regards
George

Anton,

no real problem.

I understood your msg as if i could also install a new full 2.4.20 kernel package with integrated netfilter modules.
I wanted to tell you that a) i'm not sure whether there is really a new kernel or a kernel extension packages for 1.23 full, as i was unable to locate something like that.
So i wonder whether the ipk i installed was the optimal way to upgrade my 1.23 full.

Can you tell me which options i have or is there just the one i have choosen.

All these ipk feeds are difficult for me to handle. The ipks in the Add/Remove Programs tool on the Z don't show package dates.
So there is no "normal" way to find out which packages are new / should be replaced.
Brian published a while ago a script to download all (new) ipks from a feed to a system and i'm using that one to download and check for new ipks. That way i found the new modules ipk but nothing else ....

Regards
George

Just uninstall iptables-modules-2.4.20 package if you have one installed, then install it again from the feed - the latest version will be picked up.
