Howtos, tips etc
Update the pdaxrom section on the oesf.org wiki. No need to ask, just go ahead. If you want to add you site (or want to see other's people site) add it to this page Packages and other binaries for pdaxrom If you have compiled something new for pdaxrom, please add a reply to the New Packages Announcement thread pdaxrom.org will eventually have a better infrastructure for hosting ipks, in the meantime, I try to mirror everything on http://mail.pdaxrom.org/contrib if you want to pu something there contact me via pm or mail (pierre.gaston@gmail.com) I will respond with ftp access to upload your stuff, that will make it more easy for me to download your ipks from mail.pdaxrom.org (wget...). I prefer not to give the ftp coordinates here to avoid abuse. Of course if you have your own feed on a site, you can simply provide me the url and I'l l mirror it on the site. thanks. A note about the feeds: the script I use to generate the Package index file can automatically link to an html, txt, or image file with the same name as the package name. So if you have a package like xxx_2_armv5tel.ipk you can, if you want, provide together xxx.html, xxx.txt, xxx.png if you want to add some notes about your ipk or a screenshot. |

QUOTE(pgas @ Mar 16 2006, 01:08 PM) Recently the number of ipks posted here is growing, as I upload everything by hand to http://mail.pdaxrom.org/contrib it is rather boring and as I'm lazy..... So let's try something else I would like everybody who wants to put something on the contrib site to contact me via pm or mail (pierre.gaston@gmail.com)? I will respond with ftp access to upload your stuff, that will make it more easy for me to download your ipks from mail.pdaxrom.org (wget...). I prefer not to give the ftp coordinates here to avoid abuse. thanks. You 're right Pierre, as i day to day upgrade my packages would be a problem to send them to you. I' m displeased of boring you but when i began porting GPE i thought to port only some packages i like. But as i saw veryinteresting things like the PIM suite i decided to do a complete port. I think now is better to post the TEST packages on my PC, when me and other people will finish the test i will send them to you. So only one upload instead of many. The only trouble is my band is very poor, this was the reason i sent them to you. The other reason is to have all toghether on the pdaXrom site, i think is better for the people. BYEZZZZ!!! And THX again. |

Perhaps we should have a new pinned thread that is used solely for package announcements. So 1 post per package (or set of closely related package).
Discussion, bug reports etc about the packages will go into separate regular (unpinned) threads. This way people can check a single thread to see what new stuff is available. -- cheers |

I have added a note about screenshots and docs on the first post.
I too think desertrat's idea is a good one. |

I think, we can put all files on you ftp, but I think a good ideia build a PHP script to automate this task to index files... and do searchs.... for ipks, we can do a script to update external FEEDs lists....

We are like 60% done with an ftp/php/feed that does the following.
1. Upload IPK 2. IPK is scanned and marked as owned by uploader and info is extracted 3. IPK info is inserted into a database 4. The IPKs feed can be autogenerated using php - that way you can search and build and ipk feed for each different platform, developer, genre etc. |

Is there a way to track which contributed ipkg's work with which versions of
the ROM as well as hardware? This would make deciding whether to install an easier decision. thanks, Randall |

I've updated the first post, with link to the oesf.org wiki
rrnwexec, basically everything that has been compiled for rc5 and after (ie all the packages on mail.pdaxrom.org, on www.pdaxrom.org/unstable) can be run on the latest pdaxrom all packages ending in armvtel.ipk can be run on SL-C something all package ending in arm.ipk are for 5000/5500 (there are some exception like packges built only for 1000 3000 but no that many) |
