Pdaxrom+6000 Options

I have been playing with pdaXrom for 3 days now and it looks great.I have a couple questions....1,How do I log back in after I suspend or reboot? I've tried root and password but no success....2,Can't the rotation and wifi script be incorporated in the rom or atleast an ipk? It would be alot more appealing for those who want to try it but are intimidated by using the console and changing files/directories.

I have no idea about logginng in after suspend.....
there should be a prompt, at which you type "root" or whatever username you might have added, then your password if you set one, nothing if you didn't, then startx.

For the 6000 i recommend you start using xfce- it is very easy to write a wifi script or 2 and a rotate (the default should work, though) and add menu entries that point to those scripts.
When my 6k is running pdax, that is how I do it, anyway.

Hi, and welcome to pdaXrom, I am also a user on the SL-6000...

I'm not sure what's going on with your inability to login after a reboot
or suspend. I always set a password on the root account immediately
after flashing pdaXrom, and I've never had that issue. As far as suspending,
if you had a WIFI network connection, the machine will most likely freeze on
a resume. It might look like it is "off", since the backlight won't come on.
I modified the suspend script to shutdown WIFI, which "solves" that issue.

Yes, I agree that would be very nice to provide an updated ROM with some
of the issues like suspend, WIFI, rotation, addressed. It appears that the
development resources are very limited, and the SL-6000 is not as common,
and I don't even know if the current developers possess one. I remember
a long time ago, I provided ssh inbound capability to Sashz, so he could
diagnose and address the microphone support issue. As I recall it was a matter
of minutes for him to figure out, and correct what was wrong!

I am away from my notes at the moment, but I keep wanting to put them online
somewhere, and/or even offer a tarball of all the files I modified to get a rock-solid
and predicatble LINUX running. Yes, it's a little frustrating at first, or when you forget
what you've done in the past to address the little "kinks" in the latest release(s).

By the way, it just turned 1 year since I got layed off, and I believe my agreement
said I would not work on any other OS for 1 year after employment with my former
company. So, if SL-6000 interest in pdaXrom grows, perhaps...

It would certainly benefit us SL6000 users if there were an active dev who had one...

Personally I quite like the ability to script whatever I like, but I can see it is a serious drawback to new users when they *have* to do it to make things work. On the up side, once everything is working life is pretty sweet...

I'm a new sl-6000 owner, and looking forward to getting it going under pdaxrom, but right now I can't get usb networking going. (I had it with the openzaurus-2.4 kernel. My desktop has 2.6, of course)

I tried changing the settings with the network settings app, but when I push the OK button, nothing happens. I am logged in as root, so I am not sure why... Is there a equivelant to the openzaurus' /etc/network/conf file that i could hand edit ?

I have not used my SL-6000 in a cradle (for USB) for a very long time, ever since
I started using WIFI, so I do not immediately have an answer for you. What I can
suggest, is, if easy and possible, you post the output from /var/log/messages, or
the equivalent on your desktop machine, when you insert the USB cable.

The easiest way, is to type "tail -f /var/log messages" then a few RETURNs, to
create a few blank lines in the terminal. Then plug in the USB cable, and hopefully
there will be some useful info spit out, which you can paste into a reply post.

I hope this is not a 2.6 kernel issue, that is known, it sounds familar.... I have not
yet ever tried 2.6...

lsusb lists only the usbhub

I don't think it is a problem with the 2.6 kernel, as I mention before, I had gpe-oz rom connnecting without problem.

I tried setting up the network with the USB app in the settings menu on my Z, but when I push the OK button nothing happens. If I exit and then restart the USB app it says that it is set to USBSerial. Again,
setting the radio button to USBnetworking, and then hitting OK recieves no response.
