Hi, I was looking to buy AV500 through my sis in US. She just couldn't get it at all. Looks like its not in production or the product was withdrawn. Anybody knows about its status?. Or can suggest alternatives?
- I was basically looking for a light mp3 player + on-the-go image storage device which doesn't require a laptop. Then, I fell for the costly AV500 with its cool video features, fm transmitters etc. I would also love to buy a helmet camera and use it with the AV500 while biking. Or that was my grand plan, but alas couldnt get it for this christmas. If not AV500 what is the best thing, I buy? - I am a bit of a gadget freak, love features, video and everything. Please suggest how best I should satisfy my thirst for an AV500 like device. Looking forward to hear some advice. Cheers r |

At archos.com you can see that the AV500 is now an obsolete unit.
Last month, new models were released: av404, av504, av604, which are supossed to be better, support more codecs, but on the other side, recording is done by an optional acessory not included by default. I got mine (av500-80gb) from ebay last month, and works beautifully. HTH |
