thanks for the input Koen.
i know the 700 is the slowest of the bunch, but i just need it to do music, vids (highly compressed) and maybe some web surfing. the other day i checked out a c1000 at a big electronics store and i was surprised that it launched apps slow also. not as slow, but it made me feel a bit better. any other thoughts on speeding up the z? thanks, bubox |

There's plenty of great command line apps and have multiple tty's setup so I don't always use the window manager and thus enjoy greater speed. |

Well, I did a nand restore to the original sharp rom and things are back to a more usable speed. Hooray.
I really liked the Cacko rom, so I may try again after I learn a bit more. I think my slowdowns with Cacko may be something I installed that gummed things up. Who knows? X as in Xwindows, yes. But I guess I kind meant GUI. I don't always use a graphical user interface because I like the speed and power of the command line and curses-based apps. Different strokes, different folks I guess. |
