I've seen cheap MLC cards in UK now (use froogle.google.co.uk) for just GBP90 (US$185) so it looks like there will be some of us in the UK performing open-heart surgery on their zauruses in the near future.
I shall be even more careful than when I tampered and broke my 6000, which, incidentally is still out for repair. |

For the operation, just take extra care of the two brown cables connecting to the screen part and it should be fine. iamsmith's walkthrough is a very good reference here: https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?act=S...t=0#entry129173 [EDIT] Oh yea, I spot these two after sorting the price: http://www.google.co.uk/product_url?q=http...AAA&gl=uk&hl=en http://www.google.co.uk/product_url?q=http...AAA&gl=uk&hl=en The card is 16MB/sec, so a bit slower than Extreme III (which is 20MB/sec or 133x), but i don't think the speed difference is very obvious when used on Z. ![]() Surprised to see that the card prices have slided down so fast. |

QUOTE(ZDevil @ Jun 3 2007, 10:40 PM) I am speculating whether CF cards are now less fashionable so that it's too easy to saturate the market with them and thus force prices down. Most recent/new digicams which need big cards now take SDHC, so less and less people want huge CF cards? |

[there are A-Data 16 Gb cards available for @160 usd at tigerdirect
I wonder how they will survive swapping? I guess with 16 gigs the write-levelling will handle swapfiles pretty well? opinions? any insight on the a-data cards? Anyway, re the price--possibly the cost of manufacture is lower as a result of new tech? |
