Lately, when I have my Zaurus (C860) opened about 135 degrees (usual position for typing on a flat surface) sometimes the screen just falls back to a 180 degree position. I guess the hinge is getting a bit loose and can't support the weight of the screen. Does anybody have a suggestion? Would it be something that is easy to fix if I opened it up? It would be a shame for this to be the end of an otherwise perfectly functioning device. It's not bad at the moment, just happens occasionally but I can see it will just get worse.

IIRC, it was mentioned that if you twist the Z's screen 90 degrees and tighten the screws normally hidden by the screen, the issue should be fixed.

Be careful! I have tried that, too, and somehow the screws can be twisted and twisted and never reach a stop. And for me, this didn't fasten the hinge. Any other experiences? daniel |

It was hard to tell if the screws were actually tightnening (so tiny...) but I tightened them some and it seems to have helped, but I haven't done extensive testing.

I believe I posted some pics on another thread ... they do tighten things up and it helps prevent the hinge from clipping the LCD ribbon cable, which unfortunately happened to mine ... but fortunately a quick replacement from conics got it fixed for me.
 Note that most of these parts are plastic with some metallic plating, so be careful not to overrun the screw thread ... you are scr*wed (pun intended) if you do so!
