BTW who is the actual producer of this cloudbook? I see this device under ever changing names. I think in Europe it's sold as s.book (http://www.belinea.com/de/s_line/product_notebook_nu.jsp?node=652&artnr=271040). The bezel is slightly different. But this is esentially the same device isn't it?

I have a 4GB Black Eee PC Surf.
It has pretty much replaced my 15" laptop, and I haven't used my Z since I got it.

I thought the nanobook was originally a VIA reference design, and the distributors simply put it in a case of their choice along with the module that goes to the right of the screen. so far I've seen only minor variants, mainly keyboard style, memory and hard drive size.

True! I didn't keep track of the Nanobook news...
The VIA Nanobook is simply a hardware design; it doesn't seem to be intended to launch on its own.
The Everex Cloudbook is a finished product with an OS (gOS), drivers and accessories.
Packard Bell has also launched EasyNote XS based on this design. ( I just discovered that UMPC Portal has already reviewed it here: http://www.umpcportal.com/modules/news/art...hp?storyid=1030 )
So both are OEMs of the Nanobook.

Oh the comparison is not fair anymore!

According to a poster in eeeuser.com ( http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=14050 ), the Everex Cloudbook won't be available anywhere Packard Bell sells its EasyNote XS.
The bad thing is, now the EasyNote XS is selling in the UK for £350/$700. But the Eee PC is just £220/$440, i.e. a bit more than half the price.
And it's likely that the Cloudbook won't be selling in Europe and and some parts of Asia for the same reason.

The question is: who's gonna pay nearly double of the price for a machine with almost the same functionality and portability?
(It's already reported that the VIA processor is actually slower than the Intel one on Eee; graphical performance is worse; also the position of the touch/mouse pad is obnoxious)

So it seems no longer necessary to compare the two. My 0.2 cents.

From that review, I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Though it's from Packard Hell, so I wouldn't anyway.
