Dear friends,

Our cellular company has given us the Huawei EC228 modem for mobile Internet access. When I plug it into the Netwalker, a dialog box opens up. Unfortunately, the dialog box does not have the buttons accessible (They are below the bottom of the screen.) for making sellections, nor accessing the next menu. Any ideas?

Or maybe I should ask first if connecting the Netwalker with this modem might even be possible?

I don't know if you'll be able to connect with modem...maybe do a google search on this modem and Ubuntu and see what pops up??

As for the other issue about reach buttons, think you can hover the cursor over the window and hold down the Alt key and then I think the cursor will change to a cross shape and then drag window while holding down the key....easier than it sounds...

Well, I would use the Alt key along with dragging window with left mouse button...
Or you can rotate screen with xrandr (if X are properly configured and supports xrandr extensions)

First, thanks a million to those who offered tips! I am at this very moment typing this on the Netwalker, connected via the celular modem:

I got it working!!!! Here is what I did.

Besides selecting my proper country and celular Internet provier,
1. In Terminal, type sudo gedit /etc/resolv.conf
2. In the file that opens, change whatever it says DNS-wise to:

# Generated by NetworkManager
nameserver 208.67.222.222

This is one of the 2 OpenDNS numbers I discovered on the Ubuntu Forums. The other is 208.67.220.220. It may also work with other celular modems. It also worked on my desktop Linux box.

xrandr didn't work for me.
