Okay,
So today board statistics say: "19 guests, 11 members, 1 anonymous members " Yesterday (and every time I peak in) was about the same, but there are pretty much no new posts beyond the occasional one every month or so. So I don't get it... I mean if there are more or less about 20 people on the board on a given day, and even half are guests, how come so few posts? I realize that this is an older device and there are often about 50% guests browsing, but I have seen more activity on really vintage sites (like Tandy, Amiga, etc). Anyone got an idea what's up? Also, if you're here and reading this, post a reply just as a shout-out... at least passerbys will feel posting is worthwhile (since there is an audience). Just my 2 cents. And yeah, I been away a long time as well, not blaming people for that, just lost as to why there seem to be users but no posts or conversations. |

Not all the Guests are spambots. I often visit without logging in, so look like a Guest. I was shocked to see how long since I last logged in, when I actually had to log in to post the other day.
For me, my Zaurus was and still is my only computer, so I am always using it, but have been busy with other things with my life. But my web server started charging for my previously free Zaurus site, and I could not bear to let all that work go down the drain, so I upgraded to a paid status and have been busy sprucing things up there. There have been discussions before about decline in posts. Most of us still using these critters have settled in and do not need as much help as back in the beginning. sdjf |

[...] sdjf It's cool that you've got a zaurus site setup. I just went there, and read your blog about the battery issues you had. I've been using my 6000 a lot lately, but I have not yet dug through my CDs, looking for the software I accumulated when the 6000 was popular. I hope to find and try out pdaxqtrom, as I miss the X11 environment. I never found a 100% working and reliable OS other than the stock ROM. It's really too bad the power management issues were never fully ironed out in the native pdaxrom, but oh well. It also surprises me that the Z(s) are your only computer. I don't think my old eyes could bear that screen for everything, and I also enjoy the power of youtube (flash video), which will never happen on the Z. Anyway, I look forward to checking out your site(s) in more detail later... |

Although my Z does not get too much use, I think the Z can do most things that the ipod Touch/android devices can do...like play music, movies, set alarms, web surf, etc... but the thing holding it back from everyday use is the lack of a touch-screen style "mode"...something where you do not "need" a stylus. Funny thing is that the screen does respond fairly well to touches (at least for simple clicks) but most apps are designed to maximize the screen by making things smaller (buttons, menus) and thus requiring a stylus. Don't get me wrong, using a stylus and having lots of info on the screen is great, but for things like alarms, and other very basic tasks, I wish the fonts/buttons were large enough to make the stylus unnecessary. Too bad there's no Android "Super-Lite" mode we could use... because for me (and others I would guess) that would make the device find it way into many of my everyday tasks.
