Good question, I was looking for a decent, simple application, but I couldn't find one...

I suspect that the lack of response is an answer in itself. I really like the voice recorder that comes with TKC - I presume its the same recorder used in other roms.
I'd like to learn how to compile stuff and "roll my own" but I'm busy starting up my own business and I just don't have time right now. |

I'm cross-compiling grecord right now, I will upload it as soon as I've finished it.

Do Zauruses/Zaurii/Zauri (choose one) have internal mic or you can plug in a mic in the speaker hole or what?

The 5600 has an internal MIC, the rest don't.
You can use the stereo pin of the left speaker out as a mono MIC input. You can try this out with the left earbud of a headset - not very good quality though. |

QUOTE I'm cross-compiling grecord right now, I will upload it as soon as I've finished it. Excellent. Very much appreciated. I have an 860 and I just plug a mic with a regular 1/8 inch plug into the earphone jack. I've been using it to record jam sessions (I'm a drummer). With a 256 meg sd and a 256 meg cf I can get 4 hours of reasonably high quality mono recordings. Thanks a bunch - this was the last thing I needed to go to pdaxrom (when the final version comes out) - I can't wait. |

Heh... drummer here too! Long time Ludwig and Zildjian user, lol.
More importantly though, I became very dependant on voice recorder functions for keeping track of my time and tasks at work (I'm a consultant) and having a VR for PDAXROM would complete the package for me!!! I haven't dove into cross-compiling yet, but was wondering if all the dependancies for grecord (which would be sweet btw) are stumbling blocks, what about autools or rawrec? (Both are console based audio recording tools.) Just curious and I REALLY APPRECIATE everyone's efforts! JedTheHead 860 |

Hi.. As a provisional solution, I compiled rawrec..
It's pretty simple to use: rawrec > output.raw to record rawrec output.raw to play zaurus.spy.org/feeds/jabbath/rawrec .. I also compiled songs (http://sed.free.fr/songs/) zaurus.spy.org/feeds/jabbath/songs_0.2_armv5tel.ipk grusz, jabbath |

QUOTE rawrec > output.raw to record rawrec output.raw to play What format is the .raw file? Is it convertable to various standards (mp3, wav, etc.)? |

It's raw pcm data.
Yes, it's convertable. The lame commandline would be lame -r infile.raw outfile.mp3 (at least I think so grusz, jabbath |
