Hi,
taking the long 'tour de ROMs' probably many of you took I'm currently at beta1 + pdaXii13-custom on my corgi. Installation went just fine, no further packages installed. beta1 alone suspended just fine, augmented with pdaXii13-custom it does not anymore. :-( Issuing apm -s on the command line gives the nice power drain, that won't let your machine wake up the next mornig. Just tried ... If I click on "Suspend" the screen flickers once and that was all. Is this known? Is it just me? Does my Z hate me? Better still: Anybody knows of any workarounds? Search engine gave no results for suspend + pdaxii13. Thx Detlef

Being very happy with pdaXrom on my 860 I wanted to work(!) with it on the
road. Well. BUMMER. I had it suspended in the evening and it would not wake up, not even boot again in the morning. After some investigation I found the battery was comlpetely drained. Some experimentation showed, that my Z sucked power while sleeping. Over night it would return to 100%, reported in /proc/apm. Only a few hours later, disconneted from the AC plug but suspended, it was down to 45 %. Cacko and Angstrom did not behave that way. Is this a known issue? Can I provide further info for someone 'who just knows'? detlef 860er, pdaXrom r197 sp8, 1 SD card, 1 CF card, no wifi connected.

After playing around with my Z for only a few weeks I´m now looking for a way to dive into developing.
Gobolinux http://gobo.kundor.org/wiki/Main_Page seems similar to gentoo. they have announced an arm port of their distribution http://gobo.kundor.org/wiki/GoboLinux_Embe...g_GoboLinux-ARM complete with a seemingly nice toolchain. Is there a HOWTO or something to build/use a kernel for my zaurus 860 with this distribution. Or should I let my fingers away, if I need a HOWTO for such an experiment? :-) Perhaps I can combine this question with a more general one: I've successfully build some applications in my cacko/Xqt setup but the 2.4 kernels seems to get old and I´d like to have a 2.6er for the reports of snappier operation. What toolchain and distribution would you recommend? Waiting for the next pdaxrom? Angstrom? They seem to do a lot of things "the right way". Something else like gentoo/gobo? Is there any way to streamline repositories, so that say a packages compiled with softfloat can easily be recompiled as a hardfloat one and can be used in different roms? Any pointers to documentation of the current status of Z developement with respect to setting up toolchains and roms are highly appreciated. And by the way: Thx to everybody in here! The Z community is a nice place to be. detlef

Hi,
I´d really like to see chessdb http://chessdb.sourceforge.net running on my Z. As far as I can see it depends on tcl/tk and c++. I´d try myself, but I´m still searching my way into crosscompiling and and trying to learn with smaller applications. (and having difficulties with softfloat/hardfloat and cacko and pdaxqtrom) Has anybody fun looking into chessdb? Detlef

Hi,
I can´t believe I´m the only one, but I can´t find anything related in the forum. I have installed the latest cacko and pdaxqtrom. Most things run fine, but there is no way I can enter a question mark "?" in abiword! It works in my aterm under X, it works in the konsole, but in abiword it does nothing as far as I can tell. Any advice? detlef |
