So you know, this is with an SL-6000 running pdaXrom rc10 (Kathrin)
I learned the hard way that running "shutdown -h now" on a 6000 might not be a good move at this stage in the game. I couldn't get the Z to start up again. No orange light would come on when I plugged it in either. I did the following to get it to work:
1. Unplug the Zaurus.
2. Take the big battery out of the back.
3. Keep the backup battery switch on.
4. Short the terminals that were connecting to the battery with a penny.
5. Poke the Z with a couple of reset button bushings.
6. Pack battery back in and secure it with the two switches.
7. Plug it back in. If the orange light comes on, you're golden.

I've a bizarre problem with my SL6000L running OZ 3.5.2 where all of the applications and libraries I have installed on my CF are unlinked after every reboot. After I reboot, I've got to go through and run ipkg-link mount /mnt/cf. Is there a process that detects these links and cleans them out if the targets are not found on reboot? Since I have a microdrive that everything is installed on, this might make a bit of sense... but who knows? Any ideas?

Hello! I've got OZ 3.5.2 running on my SL6000L and have run into a bit of a problem with my 4 gig microdrive. Basically, installing apps to the cf is a little difficult since I can't do symlinks on fat32.
I decided Reiserfs would be good for me, so I grabbed the reiserfs packages and installed them to root. I formatted my cf as reiser, that's fine. When I try to mount the device, I realize that I'm missing something, as the busybox mount won't except '-t reiserfs' as an argument.
What am I doing wrong? Am I missing libraries? I noticed that there's an e2fsprogs-libs* ipk, but nothing similar Reiser. Is this just a missing ipk?
I'm sticking with ext2 until I can get this figured out. Maybe the Wiki will have answers when it's fully back online. Anyways, good job OE guys. I'll be pestering you with development questions as soon as I get my cross-platform box up and running again.

Here's the thing. I've got an SL-5500 with two docking stations and an AC adapter for sale. All I want is the amount that Sharp is charging me to fix it out of warranty, which is $110.50 USD (plus shipping if you don't live in the SF area).
It's in fair condition, good looking screen, good keyboard, everything works just fine.
Why it was sent to Sharp:
My flash memory got screwed after someone forced a bad CF card into the slot and grounded a data pin. That was in April, and I finally got around to sending it in to Sharp.
I am in the San Francisco Bay area, and I know there might be someone interested in an extra Z. I'll accept cash or cheque.

I was at a company sponsored user's conference a week ago and wanted to get an amusing picture of one of the sequestered translators talking with his hands in a more animated fashion than the speaker out on the podium, so I grabbed my digital camera and pressed it firmly into the CF slot. Of course what I didn't realize was that the connectors on the card had gone askew from the guiderails causing one of the pins to bend out of shape. While this was happening, the screen went black and faded out, so I thought, "well now, does this mean I've got to go buy one of the new clamshell models?" I reset the thing and successfully turned it back on. So far so good. Looking in the CF slot, I could see some of the pins that had bent out of shape.
A few days later, I mustered up the courage to open the Z and bend those pins back into place. I undid the screws on the top, the ones in the battery case, and the one by the IR port. It came apart fairly easily with little force. I bent the pins back into place and checked it out with one of my CF cards. That seemed to work alright. I put it back together; of course it was difficult to keep the guide rails on the Z while I was screwing the sliding cover back on. So I had it all together, and didn't expect it to turn on the first go. Of course it didn't, probably because the internal battery went dead. So I tried to plug it in, got the orange light like it was charging. I gave it another try, no go. I tried to go into the diagnostic menu, and was able to perform all of the tests that I could think of. Since it said "OK" after just about everything, I figured that all is probably well, I just messed up the flash.
I tried flashing it, but then I remembered that I had deleted those files off of my CF when I realized that I was happy with the rom I had. So the other day I bought a CF reader for my PC, deleted all of the files off of the CF medium, and proceeded with the flashing operation. It took a good 3 minutes or so, and seemed to finish. I did the hard reset, and it refuses to turn on. I've repeated this with the OSPACK as well as the initrd.bin and zImage methods for the Sharp Rom. I've just finished a 24 hour charge just in case, and I get the same result. Am I missing anything? I go through the diags and everything seems ok, but I cannot get the thing to boot with a ROM. Thanks in advance for any ideas you might have!
