Hi everyone.
I just bought a new JVC cd/reciever for my car, and I chose one that has USB port right on the face. This is nice, it will recognice flash drives up to 4GB.
Just for fun, I put one of my SD cards full of Zaurus .ogg files into the player and was very suprised to see that it recognises and plays these files! Now I won't have to maintain a seperate library of files for the Z, everyone can share!
JVC info and user manual lists only .mp3 and .wma as supported file types.
The model is KD-G820. There is a lower model that is the same except for the color display. Crutchfield offers this for 2 bills.
Enjoy.

I'm trying to get my new Symbol spectrum 24 card to work on my 5500.
I've found many threads about this card in the forum, but I still can't figure out what I have to do.
I tried adding the driver I found for it while hunting the downloads, but that seemed to really hose things up.
I restored from a backup, and I'm back to the beginning.
It appears the card is recognised when it's plugged in, and it will 'try' to connect when I select connect from the menu on the bottom, but there's nothing happening, and it eventually times out. :(
I'm going to get a wireless hub today so I can be sure I have a good signal where I'm testing instead of driving around by my local college library ;)
I could use one anyway.
Does anyone know if this should work with the Sharp ROM I dowmloaded and flashed a few days ago? (3.13, I think..)
If anyone has done the kernel upgrade or added a driver to get it working, I'd like to pick your brain..I'm not comfortable with the whole flash, backup, kernel change business (yet).
Thanks!

I don't know how many other people are looking for a good case for their 5500.
I'd really like to have a nice thin hard case (like Rhino) but no one seems to make one.

There's the Extreme limits one made in Japan with aluminum plate on the front ($83 or so + shipping) and the Piel Frama which has no hard protection, and forces you to leave off the little plastic screen cover (+/- $50).

After TONS of hunting, I've found what appears to be a decent compromise. Also $50.

This case uses a stainless clip to hold the Z, and allows you to leave the plastic cover on. Doesn't appear to have any armor, but at least you can keep that little bit of protection the plastic cover provides.

I think I'm going to order one, I'll post in a few days and tell you what I think of it.

I am really happy to have found this group!
I have just bought a 5500 from ComputerGeeks (wish I kmew about the coupon..)and it has yet to arrive.
This little guy will be my very first ever PDA, and I know absolutely nothing about linux.
One the positive side, I spend my days doing translations for a wireless communications switch, so I should be able to learn.
I'd like to know if anyone can point me at some very basic information...this forum is great, but I need much more basic information!
I plan to use the Z while traveling for Email, games and MP3s. I'm sure I still have to get some accessories, maybe all will be clearer when the Z gets here.
Any one have any idea where I can find the real basic poop, I'd really appreciate it!
