Hola !
My USB connection (TCP/IP) between my Z and WinXP works fine. I can ping, do VNC, ssh, everything, to and fro. However, I notice many times that the USB network connection gets cut off between the Z and PC after having been connected for a while. How long is "a while"? Well, it's random. Sometimes the connection holds for a long time (e.g. 45mins or more), whereas on other times, it can get disconnected within a few minutes. It's un-predictable. There are 2 methods to re-enable the USB network connection: 1. remove the Z from the cradle and replace it in the cradle again 2. with Z still in cradle, power-off the Z and power-on again Although it's simple to perform these 2 methods, it's irritating to have an unstable network connection. Many times I lost my ssh session while I was halfway working on the Z via the PC. Is there any way to make this USB network connection more stable? Is there some kind of timeout parameters that have to be tweaked? I tend to off the LCD frontlight, or even off the LCD completely via the lcdswitchapplet v1.0, so that I can work on the Z without straining the display. Could that constitute to this problem? I'm using the SL-5500 with SharpROM 3.13. Any help will be much appreciated. Cheers, Spoon

I just bought it and it works well with my Z 5500, SharpROM 3.10. All I have to do is to plug it in, setup a wireless network service on the Z with my Linksys BEFW11S4 (v2) SSID & WEP key, and it works. No driver installation required.
However, the IP and subnet mask assigned appear random with every connection, even though I set it up to use static IP. Not sure why, and interestingly enough, the connection works. A reboot took care of that. Now the card is working perfectly normal, with correct IP. Just thought I'll post it so that people who are thinking of getting a wireless CF have another choice. Spoon.

Hola!
I'm using Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 1, version 5.1, build 2600. I read that I can connect my Zaurus 5500 (Sharp ROM 3.10) via the USB cradle to my XP to access Internet. However, I can't find a way to turn on Internet Connection Sharing on the XP. Somehow, the option is not there. Could it be that XP has disabled ICS because there is only 1 ethernet card in my PC? How do you guys do it then? Does anyone know what could be the problem? Any help will be appreciated... Cheers. |
