I've got an SL-5500 using Opie 1.2.1 on OZ 3.5.3 and I can't install any ipk's because I have to update these files:
libqpe1 (>=1.2.1) libopiecore2-1 (>=1.2.1) libopieui2-1 (>=1.2.1) libc6 (>=2.3.5+cvs20050627) After many tries, I've FINALLY got libc6 to install. Now, I can install more ipk's. However, when trying to upgrade libqpe1 from 1.2.0-r2 to 1.2.1-r0, it fails every time telling me that it's already current, but obviously it's not. I'm using the Package Manager program to install the ipk's because it has a nice gui. If anyone thinks it'll make a difference using the cli, tell me how and I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

I don't know what's going on!?! I installed Opie 1.2.0 on my SL-5500 after using GPE for a couple of weeks, an I found a major problem! When I shut off my Z using the On/Off button on battery power(fully charged or otherwise) I can't turn it back on! Battery status prior was fine. Not running any apps at the time either. Also, while on AC power, it's fine.
I can shut down and power right back up without a prob. While on battery power, if it auto shuts off from the sleep mode timer, I can start it back up as well. After reboot, it's fine, until I plug in external power...then the problem stats again, but in reverse. Once off an AC power, I can't turn it back on until I reboot. Is there a know app or other such issue that would cause this? ![]()

I'm determined to figure out how to use Linux better. I've got Ubuntu at home, and just got this SL-5500. I'm looking all over the net on how to get this thing working the way I would like it and am having trouble trying to decipher some info.
--> First, I looks like there is an open source ROM as well as a closed source. What are the major differences? --> Second, how about the OS itself? What am I "running"? Is Qtopia the OS, or just my GUI? I'm not really understanding it all, but I want to. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Hey guys and gals. I just recieved my new pda in the mail today. I got a Zaurus SL-5500. I also use Ubuntu on my home PC (as well as a very small partition for Win XP for those 1 or 2 things that I haven't figured out how to run in Linux
![]() I'm not quite sure how to best utilize my new pda. I came from a Dell Axim X3 (don't worry, it was free) and a Palm m100 before that. I know that the 5500 uses a Linux OS...but that's about it. From reading up on some stuff on the net, it seems like there a bit of customization that can be done, same as my PC Linux OS. Am I right in assuming that? Also, I'm trying to figure out how to sync my pda to Ubuntu so that I can xfer info and backup my data. Any help as far as programs, links to how-to's, or any other tips would be awesome. My specs are: 2.6 MHz Pentium , 256 Mb RAM, cable modem, Ubuntu Linux Breezy Badger 5.10 |
