I would like to upgrade my SL5500 to clamshell model. What would you advice me and where I can buy it? I don't mind 2nd hand, my 5500 is also 2nd hand and I was absolutelly satisfied with it.
I didnt buy anything on Internet till today (exept some CD's from amazon) so advice me please about paying methods. I dont have PayPal account but I can create any if needed. I live in Slovakia (now EU) so shipping to Europe is required.

I got a C1000 to replace my 5500. If I were you I'd forget the 860, as it has been discontinued and you can get a C1000 cheaper. Only if you get a very good deal on a second hand one it might be a option. As for the C3000 vs the C1000, depends on how much cash you have, and what level of support yuo want.
I got mine from pricejapan, and I'm very happy with it, but I am already experienced with openzaurus and even did a little help with the porting effort for the C1000. If you're not very experienced with linux/openzaurus, I'd recommend you to buy yours from Trisoft, since from what I've read here they give good support, and have a good translated rom installed on the C1000 before shipping it to you. It'll be more expensive than if you import it "directly" (pricejapan or similar) but you won't pay extra taxes, since you'll be getting the zaurus from another EC country. I was lucky, I only payed 44 Euros taxes, but my C1000 was in customs three weeks.

Thnx for info ... anyway I think I will go way to get 2nd hand c860/760 for "good" price if there will be any possibility to get some inside Europe. (Inside EU you don't pay VAT and TAX). I dont mind much USB host funkcionality and 16 MHZ. Just for comparing. I searched web and I found in Europe two places in Germany where you can buy c1000/c3000. Differenece in price is "only" 100 euro. www.trisoft.de is by 100 Euro expensive than www.pulster.de. Interesting isn't it?

I'd say the 100 euros you pay extra on Trisoft are worth it. They do a great job, from what I've seen here on the forums. If you want the cheaper price, then pricejapan.com or something like that is the way to go, but then you have to pay the postage to japan if anything goes wrong with your pda, and you risk at least having to pay VAT.

You might want to wait 18days before you make your decision, though from your posts I would guess the new Z will be out of your price range.

The difference is 70,-- EUR as the prices for the Zauris
dropped a bit but we haven't updated the website last
week (it's done now).

There's not only support / warranty etc., for your 70,--
EUR more you'll get _different_ hardware. The most
important and easy-to-see is the original SHARP AC
adaptor (worth 49,50) and the USB-host cable (9,99 EUR)
that is included in our prices.

Then it's some minor stuff, like the better pen, a printed
manual, a CE/FCC conform device etc.

We would love to take 100,-- EUR more than our
competitors, but i think that wouldn't work with every1
capable to compare worldwide prices via internet

If I ordered from pricejapan.com I'd have to pay VAT and TAX and I am exactly on price from trisoft competitors :-) at least in slovakia

Marc what about making 2 different offers?

1- Zaurus direct import, 1 year warranty
2- super Zaurus pack, 2 year warranty ac adaptor conversion etc...

With 1 you could attract some customer like merli, and perhaps it could help to stress the added value that you put in 2?

(my 2 cents as usual.......as I'm sure you allready thought about this and as I don't successfully run a shop...)

OK I'll take it. ... I'd like to know what AC adapter is in original Zaurus package. I have SL-5500 and any "normal" 5V 2A adapter should fit. I tried IPAQ 4150 AC adapter and it worked without any problem. I think that similar situation will be also in Zauri C1000. Will AC adapter from SL-5500 fit in C1000?

nice idea, but not possible.
The 24 month warranty is not because we're so friendly
(we are ), it's simply law in Germany. Also the CE/FCC
conformity is a must like many other things too.

All in all it's pretty simple:
If someone wants a Zaurus for the lowest price, just go to
Conics, Pricejapan, whoever. A lot of users do this and we
don't have a real problem with it, because these will still
buy accessories from us.

If you want a Zaurus with the "make me happy" package
or for company use, order from us and you will get a
device that works right out of the box and with support
like you bought it from a manufacturer.

In cases like "i have a SL-5500, so i don't need a second
AC adaptor" just ask. Some users did that and for sure
we shipped their SL-C series without the EA-70 and they
saved some money. We're real people here, simply try
it out by writing a mail or call us.

@merli: The EA-70S is the adaptor that SHARP shipped in
Europe / US for the SL-5500 models. This is the right one
for all known Zauris (including SL-6000 and SL-C series).
But never ever use another one (just search this forum or
Google a bit). The risk to blow your Zaurus is too high.

My adapter for the SL-5500 says EA-70 - is that the same as the EA-70S??

don't worry, it's just a question of the packaging.
The adaptor itself is called EA-70. If it comes with
a power cord in the nice blue SHARP box, it's called
EA-70S.

Have you seen this C1000 on Ebay here ? It's black - very cool - or are they all black???

The c1000s are mostly all black. It's been done a couple of times before, but when I get my c1000 back I'll be swapping guts with my 3000 I'd rather have the sexy black 3000 with me every day instead of the bleah iPod white.

The C1000 are all black - black on the outside and grey on the inside.

I do agree the black makes them lok way cooler than the C3000 (which are "IPod White") and thats why I bought the C750 earler and now the C1000.
