Hiya,
I know this is all a matter of personal taste, but as someone relatively new to pdaXrom and what it can do, here's the question.
If you had a C1000 how would you set up your pdaXrom, what window managers and so on are best? I'm not too sure what can go on there, but my ideal is something that looks clean and is relatively easy to use.
Also just curious is the final release for the C1000 soon? As I'd rather go with that than have to set up a rom, and then have to set it up again soon.
All and any ideas/suggestions appreciated.
pdaXrom buddy/guru also would be awesome :-)

well, for me, it's
Matchbox Desktop
Openbox WM
XFCE4-Panel
---
works like a charm, and looks uber cool, as well (except that you can't change the background for some reason)
have fun!

I just saw some screen shots of the new version of gnome.
Oh that'd be awesome on the zaurus! Would that be possible?

Debian X/qt will allow you to install gnome via the Debian ARM repositories. Screenshots can be seen at this link
http://www.suhami.net/zaurus/index.cgi?PastRecord%2F2005-02 The only question of how usable it would be (in terms of speed). I've been using xfce4 on my Z w/ Debian X/Qt. and it is pretty slow.

how do i do screenshots in pdaXrom

Simple script:
CODE
sleep 10
xwd -display :0.0 -root -out /mnt/card/screen.xwd
Then convert .xwd to png (gimp will work or copy to desktop for conversion)

I like IceWM a lot. I've themed it to look somewhat like the pdaXrom Matchbox theme. I'll post a screenshot later.

Those are some amazing screenshots, are there any instructions anywhere on how to modify your pdaXrom to be like those?
Are there any plans to use a light version of gnome on pdaXrom? I've only ever used linux with gnome, not that I've used linux much other than on my Z. It's a very clean interface though and as a person with a mac, gnome is pretty nice :-)

I would have thought anaqua theme for (tweaked) xfce would be closer....

I agree.
I think xfce is the best bet.
you can use it on your desktop -- it's small/fast ... you can use it inside of
vnc (on the server side) -- since it's small and fast... and you can use it
on your pda ... well, because it's small and fast. The best part -- you can
have the exact same set up on all of your systems.
I haven't spent a lot of time using pdaXrom -- for quite some time.
I hope that will change when I get the next release.
I think I'll put up some howtos for setting up different screens, etc.

excellent, the more howtos the better.
Omro, there are 3 aqua themes in the xfee packages: aqua aqualemon and gnububble-- these will do your windows. there is an aquaish backdrop........ or you could get a new one. to really do the trick you'll need some icons. chero did a theme with some suitable ones, and if you can find the thread (themes, maybe?) there are more icons posted. I think you can get pretty close to an osx look with a little work.

Oh yes, please , please !
I spent hours just figuring out how to integrate all the plugins from Cresho(thanks BTW) into xfce because I couldn't get right click mouse (how should we know we have to press both Fn+ Shift at the exact right place in the panel ?)
