found some info on the pxa290 that is comming out soon, these guys have a finished product that uses the chip, i was aware that developers had the chips just not that anyone had a design yet

more info here (http://www.strategic-test.com/pxa270_pxa255_sbc/triton-290_pxa290-cpu_sbc.html)

looks like DDR ram and speeds up to 800Mhz but appart from that i cant see much that is diffrent
Ferret-Simpson
Page won't load. . . Can't find Server.

Anyway, an extra 200mhz and a DDR bus are huge changes for an embedded device!

Look at clocking a 3100 to 624! WOAH!
Da_Blitz
considering that the pxa is a mem bus hog i think we would see the most improvment from that, itry this link (http://www.strategic-test.com/pxa270_pxa255_sbc/index.html)

mabey this will include the introduction of usb 2.0
Ferret-Simpson
We already HAVE USB 2.0

just not at Ultra mega super Robot speed.

I believe he means USB 2.0 host.

Really?, since USB just works on OpenBSD I haven't had to look at the drivers.... which models specifically support USB 2 in host mode? - or do you mean by a USB 2 CF adaptor.

thanks to the fine folks at the usb comittee, that 12mbit usb2, not 480mbit usb2.
Da_Blitz
I was refering to usb 2.0 (480Mbits) HOST, this naming thing where full speed devices can be usb2.0 is crazy as well as full speed (12Mbits) bieng slower than high speed (480Mbits)

No current Zaurus models support USB 2.0 host, however the PXA290 likely has USB2.0 host built-in, which means the next model should, if it uses that processor. There are a couple of PXA270 dev boards that have USB 2.0, but those have an extra bridge chip that handles USB 2.0 host.

So what about Spitz+, which all have USBOTG?

Which IS, if I'm not mistaken, USB2 12mbps?

And you're right. Their naming sucks.

Never heard of those. Are they Arm9 (or better) compatable processors? Link to website?

It's actually Akita+, if my own Akita is any indication. smile.gif
Ferret-Simpson
3000 was before the 1000 XP (Either that ot the same time)

Spitz is a Zaurus. XD

6000 has USB 1.1 host, 1000, 3x00 all have USB2.0 full speed On the Go.
the_oak
Actually the 6000 also has USB OTG (On-The-Go) 1.0 which is "called" USB 2.0 but as Ferret-Simpson and others have pointed out only supports full speed (12 Mbps), not high speed (480 Mbps).

Also check Meanie's site for info about USB OTG:
