Would it be possible to print to a USB printer with Cacko? Mainly I am just looking to print documents with a printer that already works in linux on my PC, I was wondering possibly with pdaxqtrom maybe (openoffice or abiword)?

Also, I don't understand this thing about cross-compiling. Is it something you can do for Cacko? Like for instance, to install cups. Do I do it on my pda or on my PC? Which kind of programs work to do this with?

You would have to somehow get CUPS working.

Possible? probably! Easy? Probably not!

If you get it working make sure to let us know here!

Before I take a lot of time trying, I wonder if maslovsky could let me know if usb print support is even compiled into the kernel. Because if it isn't, even cups can't help. Also, how do you "cross-compile" or whatever you call it, to get programs designed for the computer to work on the Zaurus (Cacko specifically).

I don't think that any of the Qtopia apps have print support anyway.

If you did manage to compile and install CUPS printing to a USB printer then you would probably have to use X/QT and desktop type X applications like AbiWord to be able to print.

Yes, I was planning on using Abiword in X/QT. It will probably be easiest to use Meanie's zgcc compiler to get the packages I need as well. If it works well in X/QT, and they get a way to run QT apps in pdaXrom (someone is working on it), I may switch to pdaXrom.
