I know I've done it before, I'm back to cacko, so I can't tell you exactly how I did it.
I'm not sure if this is a topic for a whole number thread or appropriate here. I have a mactel laptop so I guess this is applicable. I have tried pdaxrom, tkc 2.0a ROM, sharp roms, cacko hybrids (v1.0 and 2.0), cacko, sharp's 2.12 rom based on OZ, OZ/gpe, OZ/opie and a modied cacko(the download: http://www.wide-eye.de/downloads/z5500g.zip
, the website/info: http://www.linuxontour.de/modules/newbb/vi...=6726&forum=23)
. An important issue for me is connectivity. While I cannot yet sync, the sharp-based roms are the only ones that load on my mac as usb storage. The most stable and functional of the ROMS is the modified cacko. Everything works: Alarms, usb, word processor, etc. This particular distro has modified usb drivers and builtin async for faster sd card writes. The OZ ROMS are good, but not for hardcore pda usage. I need speed and functionality. OZ is fast, but lacks usb connectivity and the applications I need to function professionally. OPIE has problems with sound, which I need for alarms. gpe and the cacko hybrids lack handwriting recognition. GPE has Rosetta, but it did not work for me. The tkc ROM was great until my sd card popped out, and then it just stopped working. Each time I use a new ROM, I would end up going back to a cacko ROM. I eagerly look forward for progression on OZ. I would very much like to use it once the bugs are ironed out.
