Before people complain, yes, I do know that there is a section for this.

Why don't we make a thread for people to post stuff they want compiled, kind of a reverse "New Packages Announced" thread? It might make people who wouldn't normally ask for apps to not have to start a new thread asking about it and feel more comfortable asking. It may also broaden the range of apps that are available for pdaXrom.

Any thoughts, criticism, etc.?
Antikx
I think it's a great idea!

There are some priority things such as:

-bluetooth manager and explorer
-j2me
-better wifi manager

Then things as palm emulator, ecc.

Capn_Fish, it sounds like you're volunteering to do some compiling - good on you!

I am, more or less. I like compiling stuff, but I really don't know what people want. I think that if we make a thread for people to post wants in, it will give people like me ideas on what to compile. Also, it will provide a way to make popular or useful apps available for pdaXrom.
loji
Could you compile a working IMage BUilder binary that will run in the pdaX86 enviroment? I get erros from Qmake when I try to compile, but I never have done it before. see this thread

the download for the Image BUilder source can be found here : iMAGE buILDER 0.0.2 and instructions from the original release are Here: http://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=16351

I found this Qtopia manual ... and have tried some help on IRC ... but I can't make it happy. . . If you could compile this for x86 that would be Astounding! biggrin.gif
Capn_Fish
Unfortuately, I have never compiled for pdaX86. The only disc I tried wouldn't boot, and I never tried another one. I could try for a Zaurus app, if you would like.

I'll try once my SL-C3100 gets here. As far as I know, I need to compile the python development package, and it's too big to install in my limited flash.
ZDevil
The problem I encountered with when compiling gnome-python (and other gnome-xyz or xyz-gnome) is that the current gnome libraries for pdaX are very very old.
So what needs to be (re)compiled first is a whole series of new gnome stuff. smile.gif
Capn_Fish
Is that a hint?

Anyway, I'm thinking of not compiling libraries until I get my new Z as they seem to be large to install.

By the way, I was thinking that this would be a general place for people to ask for apps, not just a place to ask me for stuff. I was thinking that people, like me, who want to help out by compiling stuff could get ideas here.

In short, if you want to compile something listed here, go ahead. The sooner stuff gets compiled the better!

Just as a note, I would like some games to compile.

Hi,

As I`ve written earlier I really miss enigmail for thunderbird.

Source: http://enigmail.mozdev.org/

I`ve compiled some programs for pdaXrom, but Mozilla packages are hard to compile with cross compiler. So I`m really glad for any help.

Thanks,

Can you point me to some source code? I'm having trouble finding any spider solitaire game to even try to compile.

The version I played is at http://perso.orange.fr/arnaud.brejeon/index.html but that's not for X11 and no source anyway.

I've read that KPatience in KDE has Spider bundled in. And a version is part of the Debian distribution. And I found a few packages through rpmfind. http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.p....&system=&arch=

I saw that, but it didn't have a configure script, and using the command listed in the readme didn't work. Do you have any other source?

That's all I found other than java, tcl or python versions.

Speaking of python, actually, I'm more interested in Gnome-Python than Spider. smile.gif

I'm in the process of building the (small) SDL libs that are needed, but SDL_Pango needs a patch. How do I patch a library?

Thanks!
ZDevil
Find the right patch -> Install the patch package from the feed -> Apply patch to the target source file (see man page) -> start compilation. smile.gif

There is no patch ipk. I just have a file. I also have no clue how to apply the patch. If it doesn't take up too much space, could you explain it step by step?

Thanks!
ZDevil
No, there IS a patch IPK in the official feeds. wink.gif
Capn_Fish
I thought you meant an ipk OF the patch I was trying to apply! tongue.gif I should be able to figure this out now. I might delay it, though, as my libs are so screwed up from testing my lib packages...

I tried compiled Firefox 2.0, but still have some compile errors related to xfree headers....

I should just be able to install the precompiled Thunderbird, right? I'll add that to my "to do when my 3100 gets here" list.

It would be very useful to have a downloader that supports segmented downloads (aka multi threaded dl's). I know of 2 command line apps: Aria2 and Prozilla.

Either of these would be very nice if someone could compile them.

Let me know if I can be of any help.

Does anybody know what the latest version of the Gnome stuff is? I don't want to compile the wrong one. (A link would also be nice)

If you mean the gnome desktop, I don't know of a packaged version for pdaxrom.

Would be nice to have the latest version of Dillo compiled (http://www.dillo.org/download.html) I tried but it fails on ./configure with the following error

checking for C compiler default output file name... configure: error: C compiler cannot create executables

I'm on my way to set up and streamline my dev enviroment. I will try to compile svn myself first. If i'm can't do it, I will ask for your help. Thanks anyway. And if anybody happen to have an svn ipkg (hard to believe that we don't have svn in the feeds), please post so I can move on to compile something else.
