im looking to have x11vnc and pureftp start after x ?
and to have me cf ethernet auto assigned an address, perhaps hotplug or something so i dont have to kee configuring it ??

put it all in a script that you launch after X has started, ie autoexec type script. my updated mb-applet-tasks does exactly that. it runs a script called autoexec when it gets launched by the taskbar in X...
sounds good to me, that way only running when needed
