Thought it might be helpful to start a thread that lists apps that work on the Netwalker in addition to those that come with the Netwalker to begin with....

So, here's a few apps that I was able to successfully install via the Add/Remove Software app:

- Kontact
- Korganizer
- KAddressBook
- mrxvt
- rxvt
- g++
- Planner

And here's a great command-line ToDo List organizer app called 'Task' that I was able to install by compiling sources on the Netwalker itself after installing g++ (gcc was already installed on Netwalker):

task <www.taskwarrior.org>

Also, last night I installed Flash Lite Firefox plugin per my other post and now I can watch YouTube vids....

Hope other Netwalkeristas will add to the list....

I'll add some:

- Bochs
- Brasero
- DOSBox (keyboard layout needs work)
- GIMP
- htop
- LXDE implying Openbox, PCManFM, Leafpad etc. (needs configuration)
- QEMU

Those were installed using good old apt-get, I prefer it to Ubuntu's graphical app...

Regarding DOSBox, it uses the default US keyboard layout which differs from the Netwalker's customized layout. So a mapper.txt file is necessary. Out of the box, no [Fn] combo works, some keys are producing wrong characters, and -most notably- the arrow keys don't work.

I don't mean to hijack this thread with a "I-wonder-if" post, but if someone has a copy of Crossover for Linux it would be nice if they could test to see how it runs some Windows apps on the Netwalker.

I doubt if I'll be getting one anytime soon, but as a Zaurus owner, I'm quite interested in how things work on it.

(of course if I had Archi's money)...

CrossOver is basically a glorified copy of WINE. Thus, it only runs on x86.

Yup, I believe you're right there ... it never dawned on me.

I used Scancode available here to map Ctrl-1 thru Ctrl-0 as F1 thru F10 in Dosbox on my Zaurus.
It may be able to map other keys as well.

you'd have to use qemu or dosbox cross-compiled to execute x86 binaries on an arm platform. possible but not necessarily more than an intellectual exercise?

You've probably seen it - bochs, dosbox and qemu run on the netwalker, and I got win95 and os/2 running in bochs. They're not fast by any standards, but usable. So depending on the apps you need, this could be a possible solution, however for "real" usage scenarios I'd still use a rdp connection to a windows box/vm...
