Has anyone tried this yet? It looks so cool...

here's the page describing skype:

here's the linux page:

I don't know which one for Linux I would download... (I use qtopia w/ my c860)
It's closed source and uses a proprietary protocol, so you're reliant on the Skype developers to make a version that'll work with QT/Embedded and is compiled for ARM processors.
I'm bumping this topic up again, as they seem to have a mechanism that allows users to suggest new functions, versions, etc. which I just found out about.

This function works by registering a vote for your specific request at a 3rd party website which then communicates with Skype. This means that anyone who can mobilize enough people to "vote" for their specific request will get it. As of right now, there are 17 people who have voted for a version for the Zaurus (that's way too low), so I'd urge those who want this software released on the Zaurus to vote for it.

Here's the direct link to the Zaurus vote page:

Apparently, you have to register an email to vote, so here's their privacy policy:

Please also put your request in skype forum as well
Bumping this thread. Vote for it, I'd love Skype on my Zaurus!

Up to 188 members, now; not bad for two months or so.
Voted and posted. Let them hear the cries of the masses(sorta).

You guys have heard of KPhone/PI I hope?

Open Source... Check
VoIP / SIP Phone... Check
Pre-compiled version available for Zaurus... Check

(I know it looks like you need to load all of the KDEPIM suite, but you don't. Honest.)
