From OESF
X11 on Qtopia
xqt installs fine, without a hitch. There should be no problem installing anything that's on the xqt project.
(required in this order) 1. 3.5MB [main]xqt-fonts-misc 2. 379.3KB [SD] xqt-server 3. 8KB [main]glibc-additional 4. 70.3KB [main]xbase-etc 5. 1.6MB [main]xlibs 6. 1.1KB [main]xqt-startup-script 8. 1.3MB [SD] xbase-client 269.5KB [SD] blackbox_0.65.0.1_arm.ipk Blackbox menus /opt/QtPalmtop/share/blackbox/menu
65.1KB [SD] rxvt_2.6.4.1_arm.ipk terminal emulator 9.3KB [SD] xqtclip_0.0.1_arm.ipk share clipboard data between X and Qt. (text only)
just some notes- 1. hold icon down until the extra menu displays and disable "display with magnified screen" option. 2. To test X11, click startx in the applications tab. 3. to right click, hold fn+click on screen. This opens right click menu in x. 4. Some x programs will not launch from applications tab so use the terminal within startx to open up the program or fn+right click within the x environment. 5.To close, click on the menu button on the keyboard and shutdown on the screen with the stylus. 6. Do not remove the icons StartX and X/QT Server but you can place them in another tab and you can change the icon look.
The Gimp(image editor)
4.48MB [internal] xqt-gimp_1.2.5-3_arm.zip "the gimp"(image editor) 624kB [internal or sd] gtk_1.2.10.1_arm.ipk libgtk
After installing, StartX from the tab. in the terminal window type su and hit enter.
then type "gimp" without quotes. this is the setup and it just wants to verify with you. nudge window up a
bit since you need to click okay with the stylus and it will create the necessery temp files needed to open
gimp without errors. after this is verified and completed, all you need tdo do is startx and then type "gimp"
without quotes and do not su because it will try to verify again and you dont need it.
