a. Select which ROM you want. Instructions and downloads for Guylhem ROM

  syst0006.dbk-nogui == command-line only (no GUI)
  syst0006.dbk-QT-1.5 == Qtopia 1.5 (GUI)

b. Rename the ROM to syst0006.dbk and put it on a Compact Flash card (you will need at least 70M free)

c. Hold down the D and M keys simultaneously and press the reset key without releasing

  This will bring you to the "SERVICE MENU". PAGE DOWN or UP to PAGE 4
  scroll down to "6. NAND RESTORE", and press ok
  You will see:
    file:SYST0006.DBK
    Execute restore? press ok
    Delete all flash data? press ok
    Restore...

d. You will see a green progress bar at the bottom. Take a coffee break.

e. When it's done it will say "Restore... OK" and the bottom bar will be green - you can now reset.

f. You will reboot in command line mode. Type "root" to log it. Power will scroll up, Record will scroll down.

g. Double press on Home will open a new login shell if needed. Userdef and Light can be used to switch from one virtual console to another.

h. If you did install the "nogui" version and want to add a frontend, do:

  rm /home/QtPalmtop /opt/Qtopia /opt/QtPalmtop
  cd /home
  ln -sf ../opt/QtPalmtop .
  cd /opt
  ln -sf QtPalmtop Qtopia
  ln -sf QtPalmtop.rom QtPalmtop
  tar zxvf /mnt/cf/QtPalmtop.rom.tar.gz

note: the POWEROFF function has been remapped to Fn + Poweroff

note: This installation uses the restore function to install the new ROM, which means it can coexist happily with the Sharp ROM files on your CF card, there is no need to remove them (in the event you want to restore your system back to the Sharp ROM.
