The Maintenance Menu is a standard Sharp ROM utility program for performing a system check, clearing or reformatting system ROM, or flashing a new ROM image.

The Maintenance Menu is activated by holding down the OK button while booting the Zaurus (hold down OK until the menu appears).

Menu text is in Japanese. Following is a translation or the menu screens displayed for a ROM update/flash (screen captures obtained from a Zaurus model SL-C1000):

NOTE: Installing some non-Sharp ROMs, such as pdaXrom's U-Boot boot loader (which provides an alternate method to flash the Zaurus ROM), destroys the Maintenance Menu. The menu utility can be recovered with a NAND flash restore, though this would destroy the installed non-Sharp ROM.
