Pdaxrom: Installing Packages
From OESF
No more space in /
To find applications for pdaxrom see Feed.
There are 2 separate partitions in the internal flash where you can install ipkg, the root partition mounted to / and the home parition mounted to /home/ The size of the partitions sizes are set when you flash your Zaurus with pdaxrom
Using the package manager the package are installed by default in / and
because / contains the system and the default applications it might rapidly get full.
One solution is to set the / partition to the maximum size, the other is simply to install the packages in the user partition, to do this simply use the upper right corner box in the package manager and choose /mnt/user instead of /. (/mnt/user is a link to /home/user ie the same thing). The only drawback is that you have to pay a little attention when you install packages.
To see the space available on the partitions, open a terminal (aterm) and type:
df
Install applications to a cf or sd card
By selecting /mnt/card (sd) or /mnt/cf (cf) you can install the application on one of your card.
If you card is formatted in FAT (ie the way they are formatted when you bought your card) the applications might NOT work. This is due to the fact that the FAT filesystem does not support some things like symbolic links... for some information on how to change this see PdaXrom: Using ext2 on an external card
