The spam in the wiki, which I have been browsing through lately, is so annoying that I have decided to use some of my time to revert the affected articles that I come across.

I did this as well in June. Its hopeless. There are a couple of options:

-
Make editing harder (any kind of captcha while logging in) - easy to override.

-
Lock and forbid editing after cleaning up - not nice.

-
Alert admin on oesf forums. (I will do this).

-
Make a mirror of this knowledge and abandon this junk.... :(

Hi, Stan. Interesting to read the profile you've added to your user page. I noticed you've linked to your talk page with <nowiki>[[http://www.oesf.org/index.php?title=User_talk:Tux]]</nowiki>. It will look prettier and be easier to type if you make it a wiki link, like <nowiki>[[User_talk:Tux]]</nowiki>. -- [[User:Meyer|Meyer]] ([[User_talk:Meyer|talk]]) 22:49, 30 September 2007 (EDT)

Hi, I had a good search and there was only the C3000 page that you mentioned. I will change my page to a "for new users" page as you suggest. [[User:Koan|Koan]] 20:37, 9 October 2007 (EDT)

I guess moving pages that need deleting is not such a good idea! I forgot that a redirect would be generated. I guess only administrators get a delete option on the move page. In the future I will let you know about pages that need deleting. Thanks. [[User:Koan|Koan]] 06:32, 12 October 2007 (EDT)

Hi, when you want to undo an edit (by a spambot); I think it is easier to go to history, select diffs then go to the undo link. - I think you are selecting edit for a previous version then saving which means you have to type in a comment; my way is easier :) [[User:Koan|Koan]] 22:45, 14 October 2007 (EDT)

I agree, a top level Debian page is a good idea. There is already one for [[pdaXrom]] and I made a link (but not created the page) for [[Sharp ROM]]. So, for example, there are a lot of links to "window managers suitable for pdaXrom" on the pdaXrom page; these days that information is common to many ROMs. The idea in my head (that did not escape into the discussion yet) is that we separate and update the common data thus removing any duplication. I had intended Projects to be for stuff that's not really "any of the above" but I guess we can make an exception as it's a hot topic at the moment. [[User:Koan|Koan]] 07:56, 4 November 2007 (EST)

Have you read it ? It's almost all 5500 oriented and now sadly out of date. I don't think it should be on the main page. [[User:Koan|Koan]] 19:10, 4 November 2007 (EST)

Installed and working. [[Special:BadBehavior]] is an interesting report provided by the "Bad Behavior 2 Extended" extension. It appears quite a few spammers are still ''trying'' to get in and being blocked by our counter-measures. -- [[User:Meyer|Meyer]] ([[User_talk:Meyer|talk]]) 15:28, 27 October 2007 (EDT)
