Sign Up and Log In
First, you'll have to sign up (or log in). There's a link in the upper right hand corner to do that. Signing up is really quick and painless. You can tell that you are logged in because you'll see your user name at the top of the page (near the center), instead of an IP address.
Have a Glance at the Markup
After that, you'll want to take a glance at how to edit a wiki. If your a Zaurus user, or if you post on the OESF forums, it'll be a piece of cake. This is a MediaWiki -- the same sort that Wikipedia uses. Take a look at How to Edit a Page on the Wikipedia. It shows you what markup you type and what result you get -- and you merely need glance at it when you want to figure something out. It also links to other topics of interest to a wiki contributor.
Other Useful Things to Know
- Be bold, and make helpful changes.
- The wiki pages are under a creative common's lisence, allowing strangers to collaboratively edit them
- It is useful to put a little note in the summary field (at the bottom of the page); also, if you didn't change much, click the "This is a minor edit" button
- Each wiki page has an associated discussion page. If you think something could be improved, but aren't sure of the facts, for example, put a note on the discussion page. If you do add something to a talk page, make sure to sign your post.
That's It
That's it. So, please help us make the wiki into a treasure-trove of knowledge.
