Hi ... do know where can I get DNS (named) and smtp?  and firewall too?

For DNS ... I know one way is to use no-ip. But if there is a "named" ... that would be nice.

or webmin  too .... hehehe

I am thinking if we can make our little 5600 into a tiny server?
I have trouble finding smtp relay and named for Z. Any advice?
Which ROM is good for this?

I would like to host my tiny server ...

Who is the "someone" that I should look for?
If in doubt, it's always the one who asks that question... you

hi ... it seems that the feed is missing some of the modules (eg iptables) for poodle. I see these are available for collie. Can I use them for the poodle or are there alternative sources when I can get them.
Unless the kernel for poodle is compiled without support for iptables??

Need to use shorewall.

Thanks!

i tried replacing the kernel with special Kernel 14d from Tetsu site, but oz is complaining that it expects the 3.5.3 kernel  !!  Gosh!!

Can someone help?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Install To Which? Sd? Ram Or Root

RAM doesn't apply for you as the 5600 does not come with a RAM-disk, root is the flash memory built into your Z.

You can also use 'cf' for cf cards and 'sd' for sd cards.

Thanks again

There is
root /
home /home
and
SD /media/card

I tried to use home and SD.
some packages (eg stunnel) needs to be installed twice as it cant find the appropriate links at 1st go.
Run ipkg-link and install again ... so far so good!

Grateful to all ur help!

libx11 is in this feed :

http://www.openzaurus.org/official/unstable/3.5.3/feed/x11/

make sure this feed is in your feed list (/etc/ipkg.conf) and don't forgett to add your machine feed as explained here http://openzaurus.org/wordpress/2005/04/23/machine-feeds/

Hope this help.

Cheers

Hi alan,
Thanks! But after all the tests ... still find opie having much better in terms of responsiveness.

I appreciate it!

BTW ... anyone knows why the forum only allows the search of single keyword?? sigh!!

Also on SL500/SL5500 you can use the calendar button + <cursor left/right>. And for the clamshells use function + <cursor left/right>.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=56335\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

What is the key / combination for Opie 3.5.3 on a Sl5600 (poodle)???

The above combinations does not work. Is there any work around besides chvt?

Thanks!

Nothing to be done
An error occured, return value: 1.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Oz Gpe 3.5.3 On Sl5600(pxa250) - Poodle
« on: May 12, 2005, 03:26:27 am »
and it seems that the main menu's (for ROM upgrade) ... format, Check ... does not work for OZ??

So I have to manually dele /home entries for the 5600, which has some files from the last ROM.

Found out about ipkg-link. Interesting!

So I guess the package manage by default can only install on to root, rite?
If i do it manually, I can specify it to /mnt/card ... and use ipkg-ling to manually link it to root. Am I right?

How do I specify in the package manager where my install destination should be? In the sharp ROM, I can choose RAM or my SD.

Besides that, if I use ipkg, can I specify it too?

Thanks!  Sooooo  many questions from me!!
