Title: IR Palm File Installer
Post by: omega on June 30, 2004, 11:49:20 am
Is there a way for mean to beam a file to my Palm Vx? My girlfriend is starting to use it now, and i would like an easy way for me to install some software from my Zaurus (Palm Software) onto it.

Is there a linux syncing software that is available also on the Zaurus? I would like to use IR for all of this as I do not have a Serial Cable.

Okay, if not - because i have been looking around in google... is there a way i could run a webserver on my Z with the files to be installed there. Then i could connect my Palm Vx to that over IR surf to it and download the files (I remember i used to have a web browser for the palm which would let me download compatible files).

Does anyone have any ideas how i would set up the network link over IR?

Does the IR port on the Zaurus show up as a standard serial port?

When I do it, I just beam each file individually to the palm and it installs them.

- Select the "Files" tab
- Find the file you want to transfer
- Hold the stylus down on the file until a popup menu appears
- Select "Beam File"

Is this what you meant?
