Sharp SL-Cxxxx how-to tutorial for newbies?
« on: September 05, 2021, 03:28:54 pm »
I recently acquired a used Sl-C1000 from Japan.
Despite being a long-time Unix/Linux user, I still feel puzzled and unsupported
when trying to mod the machine S/W.

So, I qould like to know if  there a "how-to" file?
eg,  how to install ipks? And how to get a shell(text command shell)? ... etc

I try to install the SDHC support ipk by double-click on it, and this
lauches the package installer,  but the system complains that the
"file name is not supported" afterwards? Any hint?

Thanks!

There's different distros for the Zaurus and there's different package types.
Gemini 4G/Wi-Fi owner, formerly zaurus C3100 and 860 owner; also owner of an HTC Doubleshot, a Zaurus-like phone.

There used to be a Zaurus how-to on the wiki, I hope to be able to put it back online soon. In the meanwhile, here's a mirror of the wiki on archive.org:

For a terminal, I recommend qpe-terminal:
http://cyberphreak.com/zaurus/feed.htm
file qpe-terminal_1.5.0-3_arm.ipk

(EDIT: I have moved this thread out of the archived section of the forum).
