Just a quick question for your early adopters - Does TextMaker-2002 run under the 1.23 ROM?

Not sure about the 3000, but I run it fine in landscape mode on an 860 which is pretty close hardware-wise. Textmaker works great!

I sprang for this recently and am very impressed so far. The only glitches I have seen is that on a long document with section numbering, a few of the sections were numbered diffrently than Word 2000 and the support for pictures is problematic. I'm still not sure exactly which embedded graphics will work and which won't.
Featurewise though it is head and shoulders above HancomWord and makes my 860 actually usable as a word processor. The GUI is a bit odd, not sure what they are using, but it works reasonably well.
The icons are either a bit too big (in normal size) or a bit too small in small size for the landscape mode but that is a minor quibble. 49.95 is the most I've spent on Zaurus software, but in this case I think it will be worth it.

This has so much promise but falls short for me. It is worth mentioning that only Addressbook is bidirectional. I was looking for a way to sync my substantial calendar (which at work syncs with Exchange) - with my home IMac.
Unfortunately its seems there is no way to do this with this software. I'm probably not alone in that professionally I have to sync with Exchange (and do with Intellisync), but want to sync with my Mac as well. Any suggestions or is this coming in a future release?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Are you running pdaXrom and for what?

No I am not and yes I would like to. I want to know without mining old posts that are for old releases of pdaXrom if I would be able to sync with Outlook Exchange with a single click to calendar and contacts as happens with Intellisync.
Other than that feature, I'd love to use PDAXRom as an everyday system. I love the mini-laptop aspect of the Zaurus, but still need basic PDA functions and I'm familiar enough with various linuxes to administer it.

I tried an early version but it really didn't run well on the C860 - it seems to be targeted at the 5500/5600 or did at that time.
Does it take advantage of the 640x480 screen now on the new devices?

Sharp ROMs / Cacko Zaurus Qtopia ROM 1.21 is available!

Not sure when/how it happened, but since going to the 1.21 release, the question mark key doesn\'t work. Something weird in the key mappings? I\'d be interested to know if anyone else has seen this. All other keys work fine including the \".\" and \"]\".

I get sporadic restarts about once a day with the Cacko 1.20 - it is only Qtopia crashing, not a reboot. I get sideways text messages followed by a blank white screen and eventually the time confirmation screen. The message (sideways) is very hard to read but I believe refers to \"dhcpcd\" with an error code if that is helpful to anyone
Its mainly a minor nuisance but has persisted from the earlier Cacko release to this one.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Where would you like to see pdaXrom go?

I guess the main reason I haven\'t used the product yet (and where it should go for me) are:
1. It is an \"all or nothing\" solution - completely replaces Qtopia - the good and the bad.
2. It doesn\'t yet synch with MS-Exchange. As much as I love hacking around with programs on the Z, I still need to carry my schedule and get work done. If all I needed was a PDA, I\'d buy a Palm instead, but the Z has to still cover the PDA functions - most importantly Windows synching.
At home, OS/X synching would be a plus too!
I\'d also like to see different XWindows solutions be feed compatible - I think Qt/X and PdaXRom are using different libraries for example.
I used to have a 5500 and PdaXrom reminds me of OpenZaurus - It was always interesting, but (for me) never quite stable enough for everyday use.
I think there is more of a Zaurus future in opensource efforts than there is from Sharp so I\'ll continue to watch/wait.

A quick update - my friend has the prior Cacko ROM and the problem does not occur there with Hancom Word. Creates, updates and reads .doc with no problems. Seems to be unique to the 1.20 release.

Verified. I work with someone who has the prior Cacko ROM and the bug does not occur there. Its related to the new ROM 1.20. No idea what is involved with downgrading. Personally I\'m waiting it out. This is actually the only issue I have with the Cacko ROM. Otherwise it is great. Not sure what else you are having trouble with.

I wish you luck on investigating! It is a serious bug to those of us portin around Word documents and it does appear to be since the 1.20 ROM. I get the problem consistently with the bundled Hancomword and with version 1.5.0.

This is happening for me too and only since the 1.20 release of the Cacko ROM. BTW - the problem persists with the 1.5.0 version of HancomWord with Cacko. I believe the problem is being investigated so I hope its something silly like permissions on a temp file or something. This is a serious bug!
