sorry, I don' t really know about this....

there is an iocharset for mount perhaps you can add iorchaset=utf8 in the option in /etc/fstab,

like
Code: [Select]
/dev/mmcd/disc0/part1 /mnt/card auto    noauto,owner,iocharset=utf8     0  0
for the sd card (i tried, it won't destroy your card)

What applications is able to see the utf-8 filenames under debian?

I would also be a big fan of unicode encoding for files/folders. (japanese).

Also, did the right-click ever get fixed from rc11?? (SL-6000)
I went back to rc10 b/c i need the right click. I would like to update to rc12 but i need to know for sure that right-click is going to work...
thanks

looks like you guys did!!!! =D
I still had to goto Input setup switch the mouse to "hold for right click", exit, restart x, then change it back to "fn+tap" to get it to work

i can't believe how fast rc12 is!!!
i'm very impressed with the new rom. very happy
many many thanks out to everyone who helps to make this rom so good

OK, tried this line, didn't destroy the card   But no difference.

The Japanese filenames show as question marks.

I basically use firefox and kate under debian to open Japanese-name files in Japanese-name directories.

This works under Cacko, but here under pdaXrom it just shows questionmarks. You can change to the directory, but I've many and since you only see questionmarks there's no way to tell which one...

Surely this must be easy to remedy

can this just be a font problem?

The chrooted debian use the fonts available to the X/qt server. (not the one in  debian, unless you tell x/qt to do so)

The chrooted debian in pdaxrom uses the font available to the pdaxrom server.

I don't know if there are japanese font available by default...

It isn't a Japanese font problem for sure since I installed Japanese locale under pdaXrom and the fonts.

They work because all the pdaXrom menus are in Japanese etc, I can write Japanese in Kate for instance. Most of all when I run Konsole, the output from the commands is displayed in Japanese in the term, but when I do a ls the filenames are just question marks.

It must be some FS interface or the iocharset, should it really be utf8 in fstab, and not maybe UTF-8 or something like this?

I have two small issues in RC12 running on a C1000 that I was wondering if anyone had a fix for.

1. When you switch video modes from 640x480 to 320x240 and then back the icons next to the clock disappear. I either have to exit and restart X or open the look & feel app and click ok to get them back.

2. Sometimes, when I have an app open and displayed on the screen and I suspend when I power on again the app will disappear. It won't be under the active tasks, but I can still see it with ps.

Just curious to know whether there is a newer RC in the official website, coz I saw "1.1.0 RC12 (Released: 2005-11-28)" right on the first page.

There was a post about the need to install the "hostap modules" on
the SL-6000 for kismet to function.  I tried to install hostap-driver, and...

Installing hostap-driver...depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix/net/hostap.o
Done.

The answer might be a valuable addition to the FAQ->kismet section,

Xrandr works on my 6k! fullscreen quake! mplayer! Bravo!
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=101529\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Are you able to use mplayer for a whole film on the 6000?
If so, wich package are you using of mplayer?
I've tried and everything begins very well, but after one or two minutes, not always in the same place, suddenly everything hangs.
Have you had the same issue sometime?
Thanks

Bingo! once more Pgas. It runs wonderufly now... :-)
About the problem with Suspend in the 6000, there is a bug with the microdrive on /mnt/cf, as you know very well. My idea was to try with a different ROM, but I'm so pleased with other aspects of pdaXrom that I've decided to try to solve the minor problems. And, really, pdaXrom + Debian (your way) is so simple and runs so well, that I will not change it if everything continues as it is.
I've  written a short script and changed the instruction for the icon "suspend" as to exec this script. It seems to work o.k., at least in the short time. I will verify this evening and tomorrow I'll have a more clear idea.
The other points that I will be happy to  solve  is the possibility of having a key doing "Num_Lock". Up to now, the 6000 do not seem to react at this. I've had implemented all the other ascii extended characters that I need without problem, including Caps_Lock. But Num_Lock don't seem to react.
Also, having the wheel on the mouse would be a nice thing. I use it on some Java apps.
About the address for installing a complete Debian, it is not so. The guy only "authomatizes" the launching of Pocketworkstation, but running on Xvnc. Thanks aniway for your information.
Finally, Java is running very well from inside Debian, and a final question: do you know if it is possible to have several workspaces using Matchbox?
Thanks for all, and I will be only too happy to help anyone if needed.
