Hi,

Someone on the IGG Astro comments page said they updated Astro to Android 12.

I tried using the Planet Updater app yesterday, but I get message:

Quote
Error Checking for update.

java.net.ConnectException: Failed to connect to pulsar.planetcom.co.uk/93.189.6.10:443

Tried several times.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mark

New Cosmo update on Indiegogo, with video discussing new linux update providing mouse button support using the CODI buttons. Great idea.

However, on Planet's linux support page, no mention of this update.

Hope they release it soon!

Cosmo Communicator - Hardware / Keyboard Backlight Won't Turn On Now
« on: August 23, 2020, 02:26:47 pm »
Cosmo has been working OK.

But not been using it the past month.

Turned it on last night.

Wanted keyboard backlight, but would not turn on.

Is there any setting I can check or is it a hardware problem?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi,

Have Linux and Android on Cosmo now.

Have updated firmware and CoDi to current versions.

What is best way to install new linux version?

Should I do everything listed in Planet's instructions or can I do just part of the items listed?

Don't want to mess up my Cosmo if possible.

Thank you for your input.

Cosmo Communicator - Linux / Debian/KDE - Display Won't Wake Up
« on: June 24, 2020, 11:38:36 am »
Upgraded Cosmo to the latest firmware and CODI the other day.

Works OK in Android.

Booted up to Debian/KDE today.

Worked OK, but then left Cosmo unattended for a half hour.

Came back and display is black. Tried to 'wake up' Cosmo by tapping on screen, but no go.

Tried tapping on various keys, but no go.

How do you wake up the Cosmo?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi,

Just came across this Google-free version of Android today.

Looks interesting.....

https://e.foundation/

Planet Computers is not on their supported device list. However, they have a page where you can put in a request and then others can vote on it.

Anyone have any thoughts or experience with it?

Best,

Mark

Installed the newly released TWRP and Debian/KDE Plasma on my Cosmo last evening.

Install went well following PC's instructions.

So far, Debian/KDE works quite well.

Tried apt-get and installed a few more programs.

Thumbs up!

Cosmo Communicator - Android / Termux or UserLand - Linux & LXDE or XFCE
« on: December 29, 2019, 02:49:38 pm »
Been enjoying using my Cosmo....

While waiting for other linux options to be released, been trying to get Arch or Debian working with LXDE or XFCE..but so far no go....

I can run Arch or Debian OK, but can not get LXDE or XFCE to work using XSDL or VNC.

In Termux have been able to get X in XSDL and VNC such that I saw a 'X' that I could move around display with my finger.

Then while searching for info, I came across UserLand and tried it.

I installed Arch and LXDE.

I was able to open up a terminal window in VNC, but no LXDE.

Has anyone been successful getting linux and LXDE or XFCE, etc, to run using Termux or Userland?

If so, any suggestions as what I need to do to get it working?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi,

Just got my Cosmo the other day.

Need to get a nano SIM card for it.

My current cellphone has a larger SIM card.

Plan to go to AT&T store Friday to get one.

Hope all will work well with SIM card.

Anyone else use AT&T with Cosmo?

If so, works well?

Thanks,

Mark
