Title: Warning - Tetsu kernel doesn\'t work on SL-C860
Post by: zmike on February 28, 2004, 03:13:34 pm
At least not for me! I did a NAND backup of the cacko QTopia ROM and then loaded the Tetsu kernel (following the instructions contained in http://viz.aset.psu.edu/ga5in/SharpZaurus.html (http://viz.aset.psu.edu/ga5in/SharpZaurus.html) ).

The zaurus started booting and then exited I believe the rfmodules with a -2 and hung there. Several retries and same thing.

I resorted to my first ever NAND recover which sort of worked. I had to first reformat my CF as FAT 16 (I think it was FAT 32) and then put the NAND file onto it.

After all that, back to where I was...killed an hour or so and caused undue agida!

Did you do/read this part of the page?

A note about bluetooth modules: Before loading the new Tetsu kernel, either install newer bluetooth drivers or disable them loading at boot to prevent a system lock. I don\'t use bluetooth, so I deleted the init file that loads them.

# rm /etc/rc.d/rc5.d/*bluetooth

That part of the page is new  I had emailed the site author. When I\'m feeling adventurous I may try the install again. For now, I\'m leaving well enough alone. I had tried the Tetsu kernel primarily because I was experience semi-frequent reboots with the Cacko kernel.

Don\'t you hate it when they do that?

I loaded the latest tetsu kernel on my cacko ROM c860 last night and so far so good (followed the updated instructions and removed the BT rc files.)

I\'ve also turned over clocking on and generally it does feel faster -
