Changing Default Opie Wallpaper
« on: May 18, 2005, 06:20:41 pm »
Well, I discovered the default wallpaper in /opt/QtPalmtop/pics/launcher and basically just grabbed a new image, resized it for the same size as the original (640x460), copied it to this directory, backed up the original and renamed the new image opie-background.jpg.

And this worked fine, my little desktop looks great.

However, I'm wondering if there's an easier way. The appearance settings only changed themes for buttons and such, font and font size, and some theme colors, but there wasn't anything in there about the desktop background.

You can change wallpapers with the Launcher app in Settings:

1.  within Launcher select the 'Tabs' tab (middle one)
2.  select 'All Tabs'
3.  'Edit' (on the right)
4.  select the 'Image' radio button, then the 'Select' button just to the right
5.  browse to where you saved your backgrounds and you're good to go!

Note that if you select an individual launcher tab (ie. Pim, Applications, etc.) you can have a different background for each tab!

enjoy

Ah.. figures. I wasn't paying close enough attention. It seemed to me like that setting wasn't changing the whole background, but rather the background of the tabs themselves.

This is much better. I had 3 good candidates for backgrounds and now I can use all three.

Thanks.
