I've still got a few invites left. PM or email timwentford@hotmail.com (I don't want any spam on my shiny gmail account, do I?)

No thanks. Considering comments left by Google's owner, and especially considering the phrase "never delete your e-mails", I'd rather retain my privacy, thanks. Not to mention that a reading of their privacy policy can yield interesting results.

I got some as well if anyone wants.

If any of you seriously, seriously are not using gmail because of lack of privacy, than I believe you are in for quite a shock when you realize how many people can actually read your personal email.

Google doesn't delete their emails; big deal.  If your email is that sensitive that not deleting it will cause a huge issue, than perhaps you shouldn't be passing that information along via email?

(I'm not trying to cause a flamewar; I'm just speaking the truth)

Is any of you Chris Dollar? I'd sent him an invitation, but his email address seems not to be vaild... I'm not using my gmail account, so if you want an invitation, PM me...

DZ, of course you're right wrt what-others-can-do. But there's a difference between web.de, who surely COULD read my email, but are not allowed, and gmail.com, who state they REALLY do it (even if it's done by a machine). It's not so much a matter of fear (if I had to send something important, I still have my gpg key and hopefully my partner of the conversation as well), but of principle. Others promise me to not read my email (and are not allowed), and mostly I have to take their word for it, but that's surely much better than using an account where they say they'd scan my email.

Uhh, well, heck, do as you wish, I won't use it

Cheers

To each his own

I actually barely use mine.  Only person I communicate with is my best friend out in LA simply because I like the threaded thing.  Also, it lets us send large files back and forth.

It's also nice to have a backup that isn't hotmail.

That's my point as well. I have nothing to hide, but that does not mean I will so willingly  throw away my right to privacy just so that I can gain a larger inbox. The more people who willingly give up their privacy to anyone, the more common it becomes, and it's not long before their IS none. Personally, I find that idea appalling. (Not trying to flame either, but I find it a rather interesting debate)
