OK, Now the Real New Cacko Qtopia ROM
« Reply #30 on: March 06, 2004, 07:06:33 am »
Flashed my C700 with the new ROM - looks great as usual!

One question.  I\'d like to use my Symbol wireless card with it - it\'s recognised when I plug it in, and I\'ve configured a standard WiFi network for it, but I get \"connection failed\" whenever I try to use it.  Is there something else I need to do to get this working?  It worked fine under OZ 3.3.5 in the same C700, so I know the hardware\'s all fine.

Thanks.

I noticed that new ROM lacks Russian phonetic keyboard layout (it was included in intermediate release). Any chance to post that file somewhere to be available for download???

I have to comment - you guys are doing EXCELLENT job creating these new ROMs. Thank you very much!

2 Guest: You stil did not convince me (and could not). It is my personal opinion that it is safe  to overclock Zaurus. Im not forcing anyone to agree with me or use this feature.
And what does that statement  mean that I can afford trashing my zaurus and buy a new one? I work hard earning doing my living and you better think before posting something stupid.

A) I am not attempting to convince you of anything.  You did not state it as an opinion, you stated it as a fact.  You were wrong. You did not say, \"its my opinion that..., but use at you rown risk.\"  You said \"Actualy, it\'s pretty safe to overclock PXA255 processor.\"  That looks like a factual claim to me.  That \"fact\" is simply incorrect.

The statement about affording to trash the Z...was it not you who said you overclock lots of things?  Surely if you have been doing it for so long and overclock so many items, you must have trashed something.  You say you take the risk on your machinery, so you must understand that when you trash it, you need to get another one.  If you see all of these risks and take them, then you also understand the consequences.  This means if you trash your computer, you will likely buy another one.  For someone who cannot afford these items, they would likely not take the risk.  Just an assumption I took by your own words.  Perhaps an incorrect assumption...but by your desire to take risks, I would doubt it.

Try adding a LAN card too and make sure both are checked.

The new ROM is fantastic on my C860!  However, since the C860 no longer shows up as a disk drive when connected by USB cable to my Windows XP desktop, what is the best way, or best software to use, to sync the C860 to my Windows PC?

Change the setting in PC link to Storage.

Nope, that doesn\'t seem to help.  When I insert the Symbol card, it\'s recognised and the network globe icon appears, but when I click on it to start the network up it says connection failed, even when I\'m right next to my wifi AP.     Works fine under OZ, so there must be something about the software I\'m not doing right.  Any ideas?

Snowy... my bad.  Add your wireless card, and then add a LAN card.  Make sure the Lan card is checked and the Wireless Lan isn\'t.  Then click on connect.  A popup box will come up asking what service you want to use.  Choose your WiFi card.  Then it should connect.

I have created a new thread in the C7x0 Hardware forum to deal with overclocking, you can find it here: http://www.zaurususergroup.com/index.php?n...c&p=13033#13033

Any further posts regarding overclocking in this thread will be deleted. We need to remain professional.

Uncheck the autoconnect boxes in the network applet.

Thanks CoreyC.  Got it working by doing this   , but also I\'d installed the hostapp wireless drivers ipk which was preventing it from working!  Once this was removed, the card came up.  What\'s the hostapp wireless ipk for?

Has anyone been able to get Wellenreiter working with the new ROM?  If so, how did you do it.  I thought it would work because the new ROM is supposed to have wireless support in the kernel, but no luck for me.

There is no such layout available, but you can create it from the russian-jcuken. Make a copy of /home/zaurus/Applications/cyrillica/russian-jcuken and remap the keys.

This what I do - I buy a Pentuim 4 2.4C, good DDR400 memory and a good motherboard with overclocking support (ex. ASUS P4P800). Then I set the main bus to 250 Mhz, and bus/memory divider to 2:3. This makes 2.4 run at 3.0 and memory still runs at 400 Mhz.

Now compare the prices for Pentuim 2.4C and 3.0
