hebrew keyboard switch
for X based linux
----------------------------
i wrote this applet for my zaurus,
and run it flawlessly under pdaXrom,
since there is no hebrew input support (pdaxrom rc8).

dependencies:
---------------
X server
xmodmap utility.

install:
--------
1. unpack this file: tar xzvf keyboard-switch.tar.gz
2. as superuser (root),
3. create directory /usr/local/hebrew/
4. copy files from the package to their
   corresponding directories.
5. as shortcut key, on my zaurus, i used the system
tool called 'input setup' to define the 'Mail'
   button to run: /usr/bin/keyboard-switch.sh

warning!
-----------
if your english keyboard is mapped other than the
default keymap, my switcher will (stupidly) revert to
its own keymap. sorry, i'm too lazy right now.

usage:
---------
either set a shortcut-key as described above,
or run (from the command line) either:
  keyboard-english.txt
  keyboard-hebrew.txt
  keyboard-switch.txt

the TAV/TAF letter is mapped to the japanese key
on the bottom left (near 'Fn' on C7x0/C8x0)

the final tsadi is mapped to the other japanese key.

the final tsadi is mapped to Q

if you miss NIKUD, do it yourself. it's not difficult.

note! some apps simply dont recognize hebrew letters
(like 'bash') but others do (like mcedit, less, gnumeric,
abiword, gtk2-based apps, and more).

text editing on zaurus
---------------------------
i want to recommend some text editor written in
python using gtk. the only good thing about it is
that it works with bidi correctly. the bad thing is
that i dont remember how its called.

licence:
----------
none. do what you want.
please tell me if you have written a gui applet.
feel free to ask anything about hebrew on zaurus.
i'm reading and writing 95% of the my hebrew needs,
so i guess i know something.
