Hi!
Because i´ll probably never get my BT-Serial-Adapter to run on my
Zaurus, i decided to try it with the standard serial-to-usb cable shipped
with the zaurus.
Is it possibly to connect via this cable to my pc (WinXP) and into the internet???
If it´s possibly, i need the full solution... i´m a linux newbie, and didn´t "played"
so much in the preferences of WinXP, too.
Thx for every hint,
Nico

Hi Sam Hell.
I think you should post this in the windows related section of the forum, it's quite a specific question.
But first, you should try this faq : http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php...%20%28Serial%29 (http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpWiki&file=index&pagename=WinXP%20Over%20%28Serial%29)
I never tried it but i guess it will require your usb to be set as a serial device (see in the usb configuration tool on the Z)...
Good luck,
Alan.

you'd better look at this howto (http://www.zaurususergroup.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=phpWiki&file=index&pagename=Z%20for%20internet%20use%20through%20USB%20%28WinXP%29)
You need to install the driver for the Z on windows, and configure them for tcp/ip over usb
The usb should be set as networking.

tomorrow... maybe right from my zaurus (hope dies last )

I tried it first with pga´s link, but that´s
an impossible solution for me ´cause i got no
router
Alan´s link is only for setting up a connection between
Z and PC, but that´s not the problem for me. But i will post
that now in the Windows-Section as alan mentioned before.

my solution work even with a dial up connection
.
just read the howto in particular "For Dial-up Users "
(it was written by someone using Win2k bu applies to other windows)

Thing´s to do to get Internet working through USB
(thx to damokles from z.portal.info):
Z:
- usbd0-ip: 192.168.129.201
- gateway: 192.168.129.1
- nameserver: i.e. 194.25.2.129 (t-online)
Win2k/XP:
- usb-ip: 192.168.129.1 (no gateway, no nameserver)
netmask in both cases 255.255.255.0
Now on WinXP install the Internet Connection Sharing for the Connection
that connects into the internet.
The IP-Adress of the USB/LAN-Connection maybe resetet to the Standard
of 192.168.0.1, simply set the usb-ip back to 192.168.129.1
Z (.201) => win/usb(.1) => win/lan => internet
That´s it.
Have Fun,
Nico
